Catfish are king but I hope that snakeheads don't overrun our freshwater fisheries. They've been catching them in the Potomac watershed and they will TAKE OVER any water they are in. If you catch one KILL IT IMMEDIATELY and contact your fish and game department. We've got a problem with zebra mussles starting to spread (they are impossible to get rid of) and a lake with white perch in it. Hopefully your catfish waters won't get any snakeheads (although I hear they are good to eat) Nice pictures of some good fish. An old acquaintance of mine had the state record flathead for a number of years in the late 80's, just under 100 lbs. That record has been broken a bunch of times and is well over 100lbs. There's a reservoir in northern Kansas (Perry) that is chock full of huge flathead. I fished the spillway coming out of the lake years ago and caught three big flathead and had one on that probably would have weighed over seventy pounds. There was dozens of fisherman there and I saw only one other big flathead landed besides mine. I gave them away to this guy who was fishing downriver from me. He had one leg missing. When I went home I went up to him and asked him to show me his stringer. He could barely lift it out of the water. I asked him if he was married and he said yes. I told him that his wife was going to think he was the world's greatest fisherman. He didn't catch one fish on his stringer, all were mine (I don't eat catfish). We've got this park with a small lake that they stock with rainbow trout in March. If I have a chance I go down there and fish for fun. I caught one of the big ones (four pounds) and gave it to this oriental guy there. Next day I went back and got another big one. Every time I go there and the oriental guy is there he moves over by me. I think I've fed his family a few different weeks. I've been fishing since I was seven years old. Nobody in my family fishes. I'm the outdoorsman in our entire family (including uncles, cousins, etc.) There's nothing more fun than fishing. Beats working for a living. Later...

Those big ol' muddy channel cats are the ones that suck. :(
The little red-eyed catfish are mighty tasty! :)

We've got a restaurant chain in the K.C. area called Jump'in Catfish. They serve quail, walleye, chicken, steak and catfish among other items. Farm raised catfish and most catfish under ten pounds taste pretty good to me. I don't keep and eat any of the fish I catch. If somebody's fishing nearby I ask them if they want the fish I catch and give them away. Years ago I went to a business convention in New Orleans and this restaurant there had a buffet with catfish fillets in jambalaya sauce. It was one of the best fish dishes I ever ate in my life. I guess it all depends on the quality of the fish, where they are caught and who prepares the meal. I wouldn't eat anything out of the Missouri or Kansas Rivers. Your intestines might end up glowing from radiation poisoning. A lot of the channels in Kansas waters were recently stocked so they're really good to eat. My fishing buddy takes home a bunch of catfish we catch every year. His absolute favorite fish to eat is bluegill believe it or not. We catch them up to one pound, bluegill and redear sunfish. They put up a helluva fight on ultralight gear and apparently taste great. I still prefer saltwater fish to eat. I fish for sport and relaxation (and feed those unfortunate fisherman nearby who aren't catching anything). Later...

Fishing is all about relaxing, nature, peace and quiet. I dont keep any fish I catch, the james river is nasty. I lost all my stryper pics when I switched computors. Ill post some in mid march when they come up river. A BAD DAY OF FISHING IS BETTER THAN A GOOD DAY OF WORK.PEACE

Yeah, Bob - I won't eat anything that comes out of the Potomac, either.

But there's some ponds, lakes & creeks nearby I don't have any problems with, & I'd be happy to eat cats if I actually caught them. All I get is perch, sunnies, & small bass, for the most part, but I'm learning & catching more as I go.

Every pond owner tells me to toss the sunnies aside cuz they'll eat all the small game fish & take over a pond. I dunno if that's true, but I do it, unless they're big enough to eat.

Thanks crip.
Now back to fishing.

I like the taste of Channel Cat. They like the moving waters and are more preditor than bottom feeders.
Humm, bottom feeders kinda like the Car guys.

Oh, Crip, what kinda toy? lol

Bob, I'm not knowledgeable when it comes to fish, so it may have been something other than catfish altogether :?
You mentioned quail, eh? Love it. Haven't had some in.. years! 2 years actually. Really tasty. Perfect for BBQing even though some think it's crazy.

Awesome gig...but... I'm finding out that my personal project "PanikAtack" has so much more energy and talent than these guys in "Decaes". The singer and I are the only ones that look like we're having fun and give a pretty decent show... the other guys are just planted there like sticks in the mud... also... the singer really has to learn how to connect with the audience in between songs... my other singer knows exactly what to do and say should I break a string or change axes, etc.... with the singer in Decaes, it's complete silence after everyone applauds and we don't start another tune right away.... makes for an uneasy minute!
