I think any musician that gets the opportunity to play music for a living,
is VERY humbled in the process of achieving what they set out to dream up.

At this point it's a ton of grueling travel, loading gear, changing strings, ect. The music business can be quite challenging for many people. I wish nothing more than for anyone reading to achieve whatever their dreams and goals for music are. And never let anything or anyone tell you that it is not possible. So many styles and types of music are what makes the world go around.

Yeah a banjo...laugh away... it's all good!
The banjo has been the butt of many a joke.
But nobody laughs at Earl Scruggs now as he paved the way for many a player--- even people as accomplished as Bela Fleck or others coming after both of these phenomenal players.

Banjo is now hitting the mainstream as it never has before!
Being used in TV / Radio / Movies / Websites / Commercials.

The funny part (paddle faster I hear a BANJO!! )...
is that whatever I can play on banjo-
can be instantly transfered over to finger-style guitar.

Banjo's alright, but that email just isn't humble as you claim in the post above.

Actions speak louder than any words.
One would have to come to a show to see that 1st hand.

We as musicians are nothing without those who put us there.

I do wish you the best of luck in finding the right mix of musicians
to make some fantastic music with. This selective process of
auditioning can be quite the challenge!

(smashes banjo over big rock) lol

(You ain't never gonna hear no FOXY LADY on a banjo)

Thank goodness!
It keeps me employed as a full time musician!

I would have to concur though---
Bela Fleck is an acquired taste in music that
most can only take in small doses.
Perhaps I will understand his playing more when I have more musical
theory and understanding of what this "delightfully annoying"
instrument can do.
His musical ranges are quite prolific though.

Not everyone will like what you do,
but that never stops one from reaching their
dreams and goals in music.
Best of luck to you and yours!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Eww your so positive, I do hope you do well regardless.

I equate it to the monk who waits at the doors of the temple until he is let in.

Now there are 13 to view.
Much more to come!

Tis the season to be humbled and give back.

Playing banjo for a living (teaching and performing)
I live by VERY modest means. Always have...
Going without or making do with what one has was what was ingrained at a very early age by my parents who scraped by so that we could have what we need to live.

My only Christmas wish is that each and everyone of you get whatever it is that YOU want. I truly have everything I would ever wish for except more TIME.

So in honor of the Christmas spirit I have only one gift to give. The one precious gift given me that I have cherished all my life-
That is the gift of music.
This gift I will be giving to each and every one of you.

In the coming days I will be adding videos of my playing on you tube. My way of thanking each and every one of you for all the joy both you and this instrument have done for me. I can not thank you enough for all the encouraging words and comments and love music can bring.

We all reach out and touch lives with what we do. (or are responsible for most of the speeding tickets cause of that hard driving music we all play)

It is our RESPONSIBILITY to carry on what has been passed down to us from those who have forged ahead of us.

Special thanks to all the Veterans, family , friends, fans and banjo enthusiasts the world over.

United we stand - Divided we don't stand a chance!

Note- Electric banjo, acoustic guitar hve now been added-
Electric guitar goes up today after I have a video to post.
