that vid of broken is well sick is the only word in my dialect that does it some form of justice cept it has non of that rock energy I'm a understudy of, but you can't help but respect a crazy groove like that, personal life is a total disaster right now.....I think my fingers are softening up!!! so I'm still slackin on the recording department...this lil question seems to be drawing a lil attention. and on a totally unrelated note has any one heard of apocalyptica? 4 or 5 guys on the cello its pretty insane some of the sounds they get

Apocalyptica is awesome. Never thought cellos could ever sound heavy like that. The MetallicA tribute and their collab album are really good.

ok so tonight I just realized how much free time I have (got canned from crap job oh no) but I had a song come to me in the hazy state that is half awake when you wish you were sleeping and I'll have to record it when I get it together 'Lateralus' by tool...there's like one line in the song that can actually have two hand tap applied to it but its totally worth it...wish I had 24 frets though but 20 works for now
omg someone else appreciates Tool's bass :O

andragon I was playing for like two weeks when I started sifting through tooltabs.net its taught me about half of what I know (which isn't all that much theory wise) but I know a lot of technique and tricks (a few guitar ones too) check out that site man....uhhmmm the band (Tool) respects what they've done as far as getting the stuff note for note accurate down to what is done for the sounds
They have the wrong album cover of Undertow
Just kidding. It's not a big deal. Bottom is my favorite from that album.
Hmm wonder what a pick scrape is.. Sounds just like a slide. Thanks for the site, bro.

I always wanted one of those! I read an interesting article on Tony Levin once, in which he talked about taking his Chapman to a studio session. The producer took one look and said "put that thing away!". Fast forward a few years (after the instrument had recieved a little more exposure). Another session, I believe with the same producer. Tony pulls out his bass, but the producer says "No, no we want the stick!".
Really a fascinating instrument...

Well, I may make a few enemies here, but I can't stand Jaco...not really his fault, and there is no doubting of the talent that he had.
Truth is, years ago I had a subscription to "Bass Player Magazine"...They mentioned him every 2 1/2 pages...didn't matter who they were interviewing...
"So, Gene Simmons, you are a fantasic bass player, but tell us...what kind of influence did Jaco have on you?"
"Who? I'm Gene Simmons! This article is about KISS, dammit!"
"Yes, but certainly you aspired early on to be like Jaco? After all, wasn't everyone?"
It was the worst case of hero worship I've ever seen. Years later, after letting my subscription run out, I flipped through a new copy...page two went on for two paragraghs about the greatness of Jaco. I put it down and saved my money.
The man was great, don't get me wrong, but please...John Myung was ten times the influence on me.
