This woman is Wafa Sultan, an arab psychologist from LA, CA, USA. This was aired on Al-Jazeera TV, which I find very surprizing. I doubt that it will remain on the web for very long, so you might want to look at it ASAP.

She'll probably have a huge price on her head, as well. I salute her gumption. Although I wonder about a lot of the actual facts of some of her statements, I understand & respect her desire to say what she thinks needs being said, & I agree with her, in general.

What are your thoughts on this?

I personally think she nailed it. The Muslims can be a very racist bunch and want to live in the past. I was working in Malaysia this summer for 2 months … it’s a Muslim country and they definitely looked down their collective noses at me or non-muslims.

Most Malaysia’s don’t work because they have to pray 10 times a day starting with the first call to pray at 5am and the last around 9pm.

The country businesses are kept running or owned by the Chinese and Indians, who many have been living in Malaysia for 8+ generations, but are 2nd classes citizens and get no social benefits that are available to the Malaysia Muslins, welfare, social housing (which there is a lot of) …. the kicker is that the so called Malaysians are from Indonesia and the true Malaysians are bush people that are treated even worst than the Chinese and Indians.

IMHO it’s pretty sad and it isn’t just Malaysia … many Muslim country are like this.

damn right she has it down...how many lunatics do we let get away with throwing their blame to God before we call a duck a duck? these people cant seem to handle the world of today, so they want to turn back time to a barbarian era. 90 percent of all wars in history were driven by religion. whether it be for scriptural reasons, or merely using it as a scapegoat for personal and nationalistic gains.

I believe that Ms. Wafa Sultan would be a great choice for the position of Secretary of State of The United States Of America. I like her style of diplomacy!

This is a very old piece right there. It's been out for a while now. I have no idea what happened to her, but I'm positive threats were made at the very least. Now, having experienced both sides of the equation (Eastern and Western), lemme tell you the following.

90% of the muslim population in arab countries don't give a flying fck bout "killing non-believers and hence being true to their religion." They have their own third-world lives to lead that we, Americans and Europeans, have no clue bout and only see glimpses of it in the "media."
That same percentage of them think that terrorism is horrible [don't shake your head. Really].
While I don't believe in religions (for irrelevant reasons), I read their book and had it explained to me by one who speaks the original language of the qur'an. In nowhere does it state that if you kill a non-believer, you'd go to heaven and be rewarded (and many other myths). That's brainwashing bullshyt that extremists fill the weak-minded muslims' heads with.
It's the same thing as the blacks. The arab countries, since forever, have been "opressed" by the white man -mostly British and French- til very recently. So, typically, they weren't fans of white people, but the mentality of "I'ma hate you cause you're white/christian" changed after these countries declared their independences.
And think of their religious leaders (sheiks and whatnot) as the brainwashers.
Speaking of brainwashing, I hope you don't actually think that the news that you receive from the "media" is what honestly goes on. Terrorism became your worst nightmare this millenium... hmm, it's been happening for a long ass time. How come it's a nightmare now? Propaganda? Dunno. Think bout it.
I'm not defending anyone; I'm just giving you a different yet true glimpse of what really goes on. I still think killing folks is wrong, no matter what your reason may be.

True, that's a common misconception. I may be wrong, but the way I understand it the act of giving one's life for one's country (as in be a martyr) is what gets you into heaven with honors. It has nothing to do with killing innocent people, or killing anyone for that matter. Just giving your life for your country or cause. No religion I know of advocates killing unbelievers.

For example the people who slammed airliners into the WTC. It wasn't the people they killed, it was the fact that they were giving it all for their cause. They believed that committing certain suicide for their cause would be their ticket to heaven. It had nothing to do with killing anyone...It was still wrong, at least in our eyes. (I'm not sure if they were Muslim or what, that's just the most widely known example I could use.) They believed the US had wronged them, the 9/11 incident was a plan cooked up to further the cause of a maniac who managed to convince them it was the right thing to do. They thought of themselves as martyrs, giving their lives for that twisted cause. That, and not the people they killed, was what they thought of as their ticket to heaven, Valhalla or whatever.

I remember this very well. It said that if one's house (generally where one lives) is stormed by a person or a group, one may defend it -not fight yet- and there are only three things that allow one to fight back: only if the attackers cause any sort of physical harm to one's family, religion or country. Basically an eye for an eye mentality, except that they can't start the fight.
I don't wanna stray too far from the topic, but, Pete, I researched a lot of footages and analysis reports bout everything that surrounds 9/11. Even stuff that date back to January of 1998. So, I've come to the conclusion that the explosions were not caused by the planes. Say what you will, but I've studied some structural engineering and planes don't have the same effect on towers, as we saw. Let's leave it at that or Phil will blame me for stealing the thread

The earliest passages of the Koran do indeed have many scenes of violence & the efforts to force ppl into the religion or die. It's right there for anyone to read. That Mohammed guy was a bit pushy about his ideas.

Yea, it wasn't the main book itself. They have another relatively important book used for reference. It was very common that when the religion was starting out hundreds of years ago and expanding/invading neighbors, they would give em a choice: either be one of em or pay a monthly sum of money/gold. Insane, eh?
