Sentient Paradox wrote:Not to mention, his logic escapes me. What other reason would you possibly have for turning down a venue? There's really only two legitimate ones I can think of. You're either overbooked, and can't do it, or you just don't want to play there, because it's a dive or something worse.

Why on EARTH would ANYONE fill up their appointment book with jobs they weren't really doing just to give the impression they were getting a lot of gigs, if doing so meant turning down a good paying job?

You would be surprised at the number of "posers" who try to live "the life", with no real talent or experience to back it up. I remember when I first joined this site and started meeting up with people, many of which would talk up their talent to a level that you would think the labels were kicking down their door. Then I would meet up with them and discover that they couldn't hardly play, much less carry an entire song from start to finish, and then I'd come in here and post my frustrations lol.

I'm sure more than a few booking agents and club managers have to weed through the crap as much as we do, so perhaps this guy might have thought she was talking out of her butt.. but in her specific genre, that would not make a lot of sense, you can't BS your way through Jazz or Opera.

I am sure your are correct Krammer. This guy was totally unprof. He may be the one posing.
Anyway if she is getting all the work she can do, who needs to work for a pinhead?

Never a bad thing to be too busy. If you are in demand, everyone wants you now. Tell them you will pencil them in. Pick and choose the best, as you see it!
