Hello people! Logging after a while on BandMix I was pleasantly treated to a diversity of music posted on this site, encouraged by the trend I thought of posting something different of my own.

The two tunes are covers, the first one (Delicado) is a Jazz/Latin fusion originally done with a Mandolin I’ve done it with the guitar (not much of a stretch here) The second tune is a Movie score released in 1992, it’s IMO a beautiful melody written by a composer from Scotland. I played it using keyboard (minus the drums) to benefit a group of retired actors during a recital of said movie at their retirement home center.

It ain’t rock, pop country or metal, but it’s music after all.
BTW can you name the movie?

I cheated and looked it up. Seems like a nice movie. Haven't seen it though.
They both sound cool, but that buzzing/crackling sound in Delicado is a pain in the ear

Back in the days of video tape cassette movies, we would rent movies all the time. It was great cheap entertainment. After a while, I realized that the main title scores to these movies were great music!. Consequently, I got the brilliant idea of recording the music to audio cassette. All in all, in my movie music ripping career, I compiled eleven 90 min. cassettes worth of some of the greatest music I have ever heard. (Many of the themes are original contemporary compositions, and some are classical works.)
I seem to remember the tune you covered as the theme to "Last Of The Mohicans". A truly beautiful piece of music. (some other standouts are the theme to "The Abyss" and one of my all time favorites, "At Play In The Fields Of The Lord"

I enjoyed both of your offerings, and didn't find the recording quality all that bad.

I wouldn't mind doin' a four piece eclectic band with y'all if ya didn't live so far away.

Last of the Moheacans: Purchased the sound track for my wife. Is one of my favorite movies. If I believed in reincarnation I would swear I was on that fronteer so many years ago. That erain pre american history holds much appeal to my persona.

Andragon you have to watch that movie is one of the best and not just for the music.

Howling, I agree with you about the distance I'd love to collaborate with you and others on this board particularly with you a keyboard player and as a singer, your rendition of Otis Redding I've been loving you is outstanding. Glad to learn that you are into movie themes I am too, there are some movie themes that I would like to cover like the ones in those spaghetti western by Ennio Morricone, Metallica covered one of them themes although they didn't do a very good job of it IMO.

Sans it is I who has to tank you for listening, you said that you bought the sound track of the Last of the Mohicans, where did you buy from? I haven't been able to find it in music stores, I had to learn it from Youtube in preparetion of the recital. I don't know about reincarnation but I would have loved to be living during those American colonizing period, how often does one get to live and participate in the cration of a great nation.

I'm really startin' to dig to dig Delicado. Gave it another listen and couldn't keep my leg from stompin'! Puts me to mind of some kind of East European folk song.

My last band did a cover of Booker T & the MG's version of a theme from one of those Eastwood movies.(Can't recal the name at the moment,Old Age Moment! )

Jeanette and I found and purchased that soundtrack on cassette, years ago. We found it a Wal Mart shortly after we saw the movie on "the big screen".
When my sons we very little, they would listen to that tape all night long, at their request. Hence said tape is no more. Wish I had not asked Jeanette about it now, she will have me prowling the net till hell freezes to find it again.
Hang around, I have a feeling we will have an opportunity to recreate this great nation before long. As it stands now greed, perversion, and a total lack of integrity is dragging her to hell.
Sorry did not mean to get all politico.
I'll be looking forward to more music from you soon.

Howling, Delicado is an old Latin folk tune from South America not sure from which country if I have to guess I’d say Brazil, this tune has giving me a steady gig in a local Lounge/restaurant called Bar Europe patronized by south of the border people and Americans as well it seems that around here I'm the only one who knows the song, when I play it the all place goes nuts, it's not uncommon for people to request this tune two and even three times during the gig.

Ah, Booker T and the MG, who can forget Green onions? I didn’t know they covered spaghetti western themes I'll have to search on YouTube for it you got me curious now.

I can relate to the forgetting part, these senior moments seem to happen with alarming frequency lately, I blame the beer not the age, some might say that I'm delusional but I’m sticking to my version until they can prove me wrong lol.

Bricktown is about 70 miles from Delaware water gap traveling on Rt 80West for me and Rt 80 east for you, the town is located 1 hour South from new York City and 45 minutes North of Atlantic City right on the Atlantic Ocean, if you ever come to the Jersey shores look me up I’ll do the same if I ever travel to Delaware water gap.

I'm gonna have to dig out my vinyl copy of Loading Zone and listen to it...since I'm on dial up, it';ll take forever to load, but here's a youtube of Roy for those of you whjo have never heard this awesome guitar player.

All I can say to that is.

OK, it's better, but still there, and it isn't only clipping. Somewhere in your process I'm guessing you've got a bad file. Now I'm hearing not just the clipping, which is better, but still there, but also digital break up (for lack of a better term). I hear that now and again in files(it's a kind of "chirp" that appears now and again in some of my own files), but honestly don't yet know what the cause is.

How are you recording? Software? What's the first step in your process, (which software)?

Sentient, I use a Tascam 2488 to record my stuff, then I burn a CD which gets uploaded into my conputer, at which point the file gets zipped or compressed in an Mp3 file, during the conversion from wave to Mp3 the file gets corrupted, I have to fiddle with it to make it istenable sometimes works better then others, I have to point out that the CD before the conversion sounds fine.

I'm thinking about changing the software that I use to convert files in the hope to get better results.

Hi Peleopete, yes I'm very familiar with Roy Buchanan, I was lucky enough to see him live couple times in the 70s, Green onion was part of his song list back then as it was "Down by the River" a Neil Young tune, Hey Joe of Hendrix and many others.

I've always being suspicious of the official account of his death, hanging himself in a jail cell seems a bit far fetched to me, but I might be wrong.

Hi Sans please tell Jeanette to relax you'll probly be able to download the tune off the internet.

I don't want to get politco either especially on this board, but some day we'll have emulate nature that burns all the dead grass to rejuvinate and replace it with a new young healthier forest.
