Everybody has their limits. All we can do is work within them. I mean for real I can't play a regular c chord, or b minor,  the list goes on and on.

Allow me to offer you a tip in the area of the Bm, Paul.

Start by playing the standard open Am, but with your 2nd, 3rd & 4th fingers for awhile, instead of your usual "proper" way. Then you simply slide it all up 2 frets & bar the 2nd fret. Voila! Even should you miss the mark with the bar if you don't have the hand strength to pull it off, you'll get the necessary F#, B, & D notes that make up a Bm chord, & your failed bar will only deaden the rest of the strings. Once you have memorized the location, you will always be able to pull off a three-note Bm at the very least, this way. (move those three fingers up one string & you have an F# major, which is also very easy, now!)

Open C is a prob for many ppl, (me, too, these days with my numbish fingers!) & the only suggestion I can give you is to constantly strive to arch the fingers high & play on the very tips.

Good luck.

That actually makes sense. I thought you were a bass player!?!

I"ve only played bass for the last 11 yrs or so. I played guitar since around '72. It used to be my main instrument until the hand went floopy.

I'm trying to play more, to maybe get some of my chops back, but I'm a little put off by the loss of feeling & it gets tired quickly sometimes.

After this happened, I haven't written a damned thing, or felt real inspired to do much at all musically, but I push myself as much as I can.

Nesmiths vid Cruisin' was a TEEEEEEEEEEEEEERIP. The music and video were so 80's saturated It was hard to appeciate the videography. It is good video work though. I havent checked out magic yet. On that videoranch.com site I saw old stuff that I assume wasn't his. Dunno what was going on there.

It isn't all music. He produces a lot of funny shorts. He's done some for SNL in the past, too, like the old "Deep Thoughts By Jack Handy." It IS all his stuff, though, & some of it's a frikken riot, like "Sorority Girls From Hell."

Funny you should say Cruisin' was so '80's saturated (it's true - it isn't exactly a "timeless" piece)...it's an exerpt from "Elephant Parts," which came out in '79, & was the 1st vid to ever get a Grammy...LOL...right after MTV began, which he was such a HUGE part of developing. ( In fact, the original MTV was his idea.)

"Magic" is more relative to earlier styles, like the early to mid-60's, maybe? I love the chord changes in that one, esp the bridge. Check it out cuz it's well worth a listen, & I think it would probably lend itself better to the style I see you using in some of your work.

Loved it!

Video was genius. Perfect for that song's feel.

Know what would have made the video perfect?

Driving where some people were milling around and catching their natural expressions when they saw you guys playing on the back, and maybe even stopping in front of some, and getting off the back onto the sidewalk and singing to them directly, which would make them laugh or blush and would have been a priceless addition to the laid-back homey feel, with everyone, including the new impromptu "fans" smiling, lip synching with you maybe, and just having a good ole time!

And I didn't catch what was being said at the end, the discussion between you guys. Is it not meant to be understood, or am I just not hearing it right?

I liked how you ended it with the talking and car engine..

Why didn't you make a cute joke at the end though?

Maybe...

"If you don't like the way we play, stay off the sidewalk!"

Or...

"WooHoo! Once more around the park Charles!"

Sorry I didn't respond earlier Craig. All great Ideas there. And yes the talk at the end was only there because I wanted the ranchero's exhaust in it.

OK I watched it, After the first listen I was singing it. I watched it 5 times in a row. I really like the tune. I can sing that either in full voice or falsetto. The video is OK. I really don't think it's anything special. The song reminds me of grease which is of course playing off of the 50's. Thanks for sharing.
