After listening to songs for over half a century, and singing for four decades, I find myself quoting song phrases from time to time.
Some that stick in my head are....

"Music .... is so much less ... than what you are." (Incredible string band)

"Lets forget about tomorrow...'cause tomorrow never comes." (Frank & Nancy Sinatra)

"I've got a baby's brain and an old mans heart" (Alice Cooper)

"The heart of Rock and Roll is still beating" (Huey Lewis)

That's enough for me for now, but I'm sure I,ll think of a whole lot more.

How about you?

Later,
Howlin'

"Limpin' as you do, and I'm watching you" (KISS)

"She never told me she was a mime" (Weird Al Yankovic)

"Let's hope this floppy holds up to my hard drive" (Enuff Z'nuff)

As much as I dislike the Eagles, this really stuck with me for some reason - "I'd like to take your inner child & kick its little ass" - it seems particularly appropriate to my overall mood, lately, as I try to remain "sensitive" & "caring" & "understanding" as I deal with my wife's withdrawal symptoms. (It really came out as I dealt with Cliffy Blakemore the Turd...er...3rd!)

Jerry Reed - "Tell St Peter at the Golden Gate that you just hate to see him wait but you just gotta have another cigarette"

Pink Floyd - "The lunatic is in my head"

Huey Lewis - "I'm takin' what they're givin' cuz I'm workin' for a livin'"

Paul Simon - "Bah-bah-bah dah dah dah dah feelin' GROOVY"

Leonard Cohen - "& even though it all went wrong I'll stand before the lord of song with nothing on my tongue but hallelujah"

Cake - "I'm not fit to touch the hem of your garment"

Phil Montgomery - "This is gonna be a change for the bett-tah-ah-ah"

"...but for now just our t-shirts cry freedom
and our voices are gagged by our greed
Our minds are harnessed by knowledge,
by the hill and the will to succeed" (Fish)

"It all started when I was younger; they said I was good and I thought they said great."

"This flaming spitfire flight has come undone."

Those are both from "I Can Fly" by Kansas.

Sometimes yeah, I think it's a sin, seems like I am winning when I am losing again.

Sundown, you better take care if I find you have been creepin' round my back stair.

-Gordon Lightfoot

Yes-sir Scotty,

Lightfoot is a master songsmith indeed. One of my favorite verses is from "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald"

When suppertime came
the old cook came on deck
saying "Fellows, it's to rough to feed ya".

At 7P.M.
the main hatchway caved in
He said "Fellas, it's been good to know ya"

Every gimmick-hungry yob digging gold for rock n' roll
Will grab the mic and tell us he'll "die before he's sold"
But I believe in this, and it's been tested by research
that he who f***s nuns will later join the church

From The Clash's "Death or Glory"

"Does anyone know where the love of God goes
when the waves turn minutes to hours?" (Lightfoot)

"I can't see a single storm cloud in the sky, but I sure can smell the rain" (Blackhawk)

"You put your right foot in
You put your right foot out
You put your right foot in & you shake it all about
Do the hokey pokey & you turn yourself around
That's what it's all about"

Hmmm...what if that REALLY IS what it's all about? That would explain a lot. Of course, when I step in it once, I take it out, but I never put it back in & shake it. I just think that's so wrong! Just put it in once & END it!
