A db meter is a great tool to use. Also a hand-held spectrum analyzer that allows you to walk around the room you're in and see which frequencies are elevated. You have to run a pink-noise generator through your PA in conjunction with the spectrum analyzer. There's no such thing as a room with perfect accoustics. Some part of the room might naturally magnify the highs , or mids, or lows. If you see some frequencies that are too high then adjust your equalizer accordingly. The people on this forum really know their stuff (like jw123). You'll always get good advice here. Good luck...

One reason Steve went to the electronoc drums was sound pressure control versatility. Say what you like about tone from electronic drums, The versatility outweighs any downside imo.
Our song list of originals runs from soft Christian contemp. to Punk / Metal.
Small venue to outdoors. The goal is for our equipment to be as versatile as possable.
