Okay, I'll admit I'm not the nicest-looking guy around. When my grandson 1st laid eyes on me, he screamed, & wouldn't stop until he couldn't see me. This went on for two days. Just one look at me & it was screech city. It was most disconcerting, although it was kinda funny, too, in a way. This afternoon, Ian brought him over. As soon as he saw me, he started up screaming again.
Ian told me it's probably my beard, cuz his roommate has one & the kid screams when he sees him, too. So it's nice to know it isn't my features that do it, anyway.
When he began yelling again today, I gently grabbed him from Ian, & brought him back into the office. I turned on the computer while he screeched, & brought up Victor Wooten's Norwegian Wood.
Suddenly, the baby got this glazed look in his eyes. He shut right up & just stared at the screen. At the end of the tune, he looked at me with the biggest grin. Then he started crying again, until I played it again.
Then I put up some other stuff on youtube by Bela Fleck & the Flecktones. He started laughing & giggling and banging his hands on the desk. He's only 17 months old & has great taste, in my book. His all-time favorite was this one:

which makes sense, since it's a children's song, I think, or is it a drinking song? I can never tell them apart when it's a foreign tune!
Anyway, I think we've made peace. He laughs & reaches for me, now, which is quite a nice change!
Maybe I'll play & sing something for him tomorrow & see how he takes to it. Hope it doesn't scare him like the beard did!
