I just saw this film. A few thoughts........
First, Keef is why I picked up guitar. I still have
my first Tele that I walked into the music store in
Havertown and said "gimme whatever this picture is "
I was a 'Stone archivist and saw them a few times in
the 70's and Expensive Wino's in the 80's. I totally
lost interest in the 90's and solidifying my opinion
that Ron Wood was the worst thing that could have
happened to their sound short of a power failure.
The film made me happy about the 'Stones again.
No, they werent the thundering rock n riffing monsters
I remember from the 70's. I still miss Mick Taylor. But,
they seemed like they were having fun and Keef was even
goofing on himself , at one point telling himself to shut up
when he obviously forgot the words to a song. Ronnie
seemed somewhat sober and even played a good acoustic
and slide guitar. His Strat work still made me feel good
about my relative lack of skillage , though.....
Im glad they are still chugging away. I think they still
stand on their merits and arent quite ready for the Casino
retro Oldies circuit yet. I scanned the final credits intensly
trying to find out who did Keefs hair but alas, it was in vein.
If its raining in your state this mightbe a nice film to spend some time on.

Whoever called them "the world's greatest little garage band" had it down perfect...& yeah...I like a lot of their material, too.

Wouldn't wanna play in a Stones tribute band, though.

I couldn't agree more, Cap. There's is a certain style that has never been copied successfully, even when it's played "note for note."

Love them & hate them, in spite of myself.

They are the enigma of popular music for nearly 5 decades, as far as I can tell. There's a magic in that band.

I have to laugh, I don't like the stones.

BUT I do like their music... (Is that even possible>?)

The problem is that they play so well together, it's not the same as learning other tunes. I think it involves more..

I played an easy tune that we really worked hard on and when we played it, it wasn't what we expected at all. (I was disappointed)

It gives you a new appreciation about what they do and how they do it.

I guess what I am trying vainly to say is they have an intangible quality that involves more than just music.
