Okay...I tried loading it on my page and turns out it is 2.4 mb larger than it should be...in both formats.....so.....I guess that would be the main problem. Anyways ....i burned the track to CD put it in my car stereo still the same scenario it was crystal clear. The only thing I could think of is that it could be your computers Codecs are an issue...maybe it can only read like 96kbps.....normal MP3 or you have latencty issues. Just update the codecs for media player, maybe or whatever it requires. Or it might be nothing. I am not to sure what the prob is but I tried! Sorry I couldn't help you!

Yeah the fast track is okay.....it might just be configured wrong...or maybe you need to DL the latest driver for it/software...Do you want a recording program that is easier to use? I have about 20 of them.....Logic, magix , acid , cubase, cakewalk(sonar prod edition), Acid Pro, You can Download Audacity at behringers/downloads website along w/ kristal multitrack recorders for free....Download Acid express at www.acidplanet.com...etc
Well, it may have been this Fast Track thing. It has hijacked ALL the sound from my computer & the unit controls the volume for everything, even the little computer blips & beeps. Sorry, I deleted the files you converted because I was dangerously close to my limit. The other ones I recorded are lots smaller; in the 4-5 MB range instead of 8-9 MB.

Hey Diva. . .
You definately got a very smooth delivery and a crisp handle on your breathing.
Were those your harmonies over yourself. Either way. . .very nice.
I like the patient approach you took on Sweet Home.
Well done me lady. . .

what kind of computer do you have? How old? How much ram? How big of a hard drive?
It's a brand new Dell C521. I just got it about a month ago. I don't remember all the specs without looking it up, but I know it has an 80 gig hard drive. I think the Session program is not Windows compatible, because all the photos of the unit show it with Apple laptops & Mac computers. It also warned me at setup that it wasn't Windows Logo approved, but I installed it anyway. Now all of a sudden my computer can't remember certain passwords, & lots of other little funky things, besides having slowed down considerably.
Thanks, BIT. The harmonies were pre-recorded; I used karaoke tracks. Good thing, too, because I couldn't keep the program running long enough to go back & record harmonies!

That shouldn't be an issue....I have m-audio products and a lot of it is not LOGO tested.....my soundcard says the same thing and I have no issues w/ the software or drivers. I hope you get it figured out soon

Julie,
When you bring up Explorer to list your files, choose the file you want to listen to/to run, and RIGHT-Click it.
That brings up a sub-menu. Click on "Open with," and select the program you want to use. You can usually override the default software that way, 99% of the time.
As far as mixing Apples & Windows . . . ahhh . . ., not such a good idea. Really. But, you could do it with no problems. Maybe. It could happen . . . .
.
I don't consider myself a computer guru, but I've been using computers for about 27 years now. I've studied Computer Systems Technology in a Technical College. I helped run a computer sales/service/systems installation center for 2 years. I use 2 computers simultaneously in my business. So, I've accumulated a few bits of experience on the way.
.
Theres a REASON that the MAc program says it's not 'Logo-tested.' It's because they're not sure if everything will work right, and they're warning you. Many sub-routines in the programming are proprietary to MAC.
But - hey - it could work . . .
.
You said . . . . ". . . warned me at setup . . . but I installed it anyway. Now all of a sudden my computer can't . . . "
Oww! I've heard that kind of thing several times, at the repair center.
Mac users will probably disagree with me, but if it was one of my computers, I'd back-up and save all the work I did, delete the MAC software, and install software that was designed for my computer.
If I wanted to use software specifically designed for the Mac Operating System (and MAC architecture), I'd buy a Mac.
But, if using a Windows XP: look for the XP logo on the box, before you buy. . .
.
I've been in this kind of situation several times over the past decades, and I've found that it's always been more trouble than it's worth, to do all the computer-fixes and OS - work-arounds which allow me to use the software.
I know you want to put your songs 'out-there,' but you might consider getting other software before you're too deeply-entrenched in your present software. The longer you use it, the harder it'll be to part with it.
.
If the person you bought the computer from is knowledgeable about computers, you might start by talking to him.
I don't think you want to get involved with the technical issues of programming/computers.
You might find that you are spending more time trying to get your computer to work right, than you are singing . . .
.
Sorry, I didn't mean to sound 'preachy.'
I probably opened up a 'can of worms' with MAC users. But experienced Win3.1/Win95/Win98/Win XP users will most likely agree with what I 'threw out on the table.'
OK - I've had my say - now I'll sit down and shut up!
Best wishes.

I ordered the computer directly from Dell. I installed the Session program from the disc, but went to the M-Audio website to download the Fast Track driver for Windows XP instead of using the installation disc. I have to give the thing back to my boyfriend when he gets back tomorrow, which I'll definitely do willingly! I saw an interface made by Alesis that comes with Cubase in the latest Musician's Friend catalog. Maybe it will find its way under my tree. Cubase may be more difficult to grasp at first, but it seems to be tried & true by more people. Session is basically "Recording For Dummies" which I like, but it's just too much trouble.

Hey, good luck with it.
Maybe Santa will leave something for you under the tree.
Have you been a 'good girl?
.
I visited your site again. I see you have a few more 'red' songs.
I'm dowloading the Cheryl Crow song. It's a 6.58MB download, and it looks like it'll be about 19 minutes to download . . . .
I'm playing hookey from work to download it, but I have something else I can do that's not computer related.
I wonder if Acid Music Studio can convert it?
Later.

Auburn Diva, do you plan on doing a lot of sequencing or using may vsts? There is quite a learning curve to cubase, but much of that is the former. If you just plan on audio recording you won't have too much trouble. I would shop around some and figure out what your needs are before just buying a soundcard. For instance do you want pci, usb or firewire? Do you need midi? Most of them come with some lite version of something.
I just got a new computer built by pc audio labs to be exclusively a DAW. My new soundcard for that (Emu1820m) came with Cubase LE, so if you need some help let me know. I have been using FL, Adobe Audition (I started when it was cool edit) and Sonar for years so I have my head pretty much wrapped around the computer recording world...

I'm using E-mu 0404 and a m-audio soundcard at the same time...most e-mu stuff comes w/ cubase based software and I likey.....the wave lab is an awesome tool to have as well.....
Well, I could swear I saw an Alesis interface for around $150 in the Musician's Friend catalog, but now I can't seem to find it. I did find, however, the Fast Track USB I've been using. It's listed here for $99, but the BF got it at Target, of all places. I actually like how easy Session is to use, but I can't figure out what's going wrong & why it keeps shutting down. I don't think it's a virus; my protection software did a complete scan today & found nothing. If I could get Session to run right it would definitely be my first choice because it's simple. I use some karaoke tracks for covers, but I also do originals with an acoustic guitar. I'd like to be able to record the whole band, but since there's not enough room (or soundproofing) at my place I'm not worried about that just yet. Session has virtual instruments I'd like to experiment with, too. As my schooling progresses (I just started college for Information Technology) I'm sure I'll be able to figure this stuff out, but right now I'm in the dark. If I get one of my own it would have to be very inexpensive & very easy to use.
