I like it a lot, both versions are really sweet.
Would be a hard choice, I'll work on the lyrics but dont expect for me to sing. My Church pays me to lipsync so I dont empty the building on Sunday morning.

Sans -- If it's ok with you, I would like to rename my take 'Letting Go'. Finish it off as an instrumental, and send it to the one that I 'did' lose due to sin and selfishness.

Whats sad is I've been playing 25 years, yet only started really working on leads about last march. I took 2 years of advanced theory about 20 years ago, but it was all on paper and piano (and 99% forgotten), so my guitar side has been 100% self taught (I did take ONE lesson when I was in my mid 20-s), but when it comes to leads, I just stumble around and find notes that sound good but still have amazing difficulty with chord changes, keys, phrasing, and 'tricks'. I can't play impromptu solos for the life of me unless the background chords are absolute (like C-G combos and stuff)

Any suggestions on web sites to help out? I've looked up a few scales, learned the "1st mode" but can't seem to place it right, and recently learned the simple harmonic minor scale, but can't find a use for it.

A couple of other guitarists I know keep telling me to just play what sounds good to me, but then I hear these awesome riffs/runs/phrases from GT and others here and feel like I'm limited.

I don't know of any web sites off the top of my head... haven't kept up with that kind of stuff for quite awhile.
Seems like it would be a good new thread though.
I think Crip2nite would be the guy with all the useful help. He's really good, and he has a jazz background so I know he has to be well schooled.

Firts mode, "Ionian", is the same as the Major scale.
6th mode, "Aeolian", is the same as the Minor scale.
The first three modes are thought of as major, the last four thought of as minor.
Rather than get into all the "Its the same as the major scale but with a flattened this or a raised that", just think of modes as harmonizations of the major scale.

IMO all ya ever need are the major and minor scales, and major and minor pentatonic scales.
If a chord progression is giving you problems, just solo over each chord as it comes. Target notes that fit with the chord.

Anyways... i've babbled enough.

I love the lyrics and the music......I wish I had a way of knowing where to start the words etc....... I can almost grasp it........(sitting here listening to it as I type) ...... I have never done anything any original stuff. I have no point of reference. Sorry, rambling now
