Download Audacity, it's free. Install it and look on the download page and you'll see a link to the LAME encoder. Never mind, the link is Here. Once you have audacity running, try to export a file to MP3, it's in the FILE menu, and it will ask you where the LAME encoder is. Point it to the folder where you unzipped the LAME encoder and it will always remember, and does a nice job of exporting your recording in MP3 format. It does the entire song, and is also free. Audacity also does a pretty good job of home recordings, and has multitrack capability.
