Sure does for me, I was traveling 20 to and 20 miles back to practice and it didnt pay off 6months later, so now I am more careful of such decisions I make, found drummer thru bandmix, building 4 sets at this time and the distance to practice is not so rough on the wallet, so it seems every jam is going to be worthwhile, sure hope we dont get to riding horses again like some postman movie, haveing to load up the gear and hope you dont get stuck with a(jackass).

Definitely, man. It limits the area that I'm comfortable to meet other musicians. And it's getting worse.
Good luck.

That's why I set up studio/rehearsal space in my own basement!

Yes it certainly does. I won't go out to hear bands anymore, either, like I used to, unless they're very close by.

Sometimes, when I'm feeling especially paranoid, I think it's a gov't comspiracy to keep us all from gathering to talk about how bad things are getting, or to discuss possible solutions that would get those in control out of power. Just imagine - 1st, they target the bars so they can supposedly "stop the drinking & driving"...2nd, they stop smoking in all public places...these two steps get to the people that are a little on the outer edge, who are more apt to be intolerant of gov't intervention...3rd, they up the price of gas so that we can't even afford to go out in public & meet others...4th, they change the TV signal so you have to get a special box to get a signal at all (& in that box, of course, is an outgoing signal to let them know what you watch, so they know what kind of person you are & can better determine how to control you)...5th, they are building more & more toll roads & "pay lanes" on our highways to make it even more expensive to travel, so that eventually only the very rich will be able to do it at all...6th, they monitor phone conversations & the internet to "watch for terrorist activity" as they gather more & more info on you & sell it to WalMart so they can do their "target marketing" & control what you buy & where....ooooo, it's very scary if you think about it like that, & I do, often!

it certainly does have an effect, but when you are gigging, it's really no different than driving to work, you get paid to go there, and the expenses are just a tad higher now.

Not if you practise twice or more a week. It barely reaches a level of profit when you deduct all the expenses.

Yes, I feel increased fuel price effects the economy altogether.
but if I deducted what I've been paid from what I've spent on equipment, I'd quit today and go back to fighting.

they seem to be keeping a tab on all, gas, tv boxes, soon they wiilllll demand all musicians make thier mark on the clubs computer so they will know when, where we play and to tax all and soon, should i say, a controlled society. mr. Philbymon, you sound on the right track,
