On my clean channel I throw a tinge of chorus and revrb

On my lead channel insane overdrive with medium reverb, hi mid, med bass and 3/4 treble

On my rhythm channel regular overdrive for powerchords with absolutely no reverb.... bass, mid and treble same as above

And my last channel I leave a nice overdrive, flange with a smidge of echo for my Halen/ Vai type of stuff!

Crip, you're a total badass dude. We'd have a fun time drinkin beers man. You know I was just bustin your balls a little..

You know, there is a burden sometimes with having an expensive amp. Play a shady bar, and you can't relax. You always have in the back of your mind that someone's gonna run off with it. I've had to play gigs, then load the gear in the truck and just take it home.

But now I have my dive bar gear too. I have a Marshall 8100 ($200) and my cabinet is a Peavey (with V30s in it). Nobody wants to steal that. So I can relax, keep it in the truck, hang out, and drink some beers..

If I play a gig where I know it's cool, then I'll sport the Mesa.

AND THE POWER IS UNRELENTING!!!!!!!!!! Hahaha..

Peace man.

amazing crip. You must have mad skills to program good sound out of those fx lol. I couldn't handle them. I do love the clean channel of that amp though!

I wish you lived a little closer... I've got this down to a science now and would gladly take about 2 hours and set up your Line 6. I noticed you're also playing the LP Studio like mine.... cool 8) For some reason though when I play my studio, I do get some feedback when not playing anything so I just use the volume pedal when that happens live.... It doesn't happen with my strat or other Les Pauls though.... must be a pick-up issue??

Shredd... I know you were kidding, we went through this before :P You wanna hear about paranoia?? I am going to be playing for about 1000 Hell's Angels tomorrow at an outside venue. Both Pauls that I'm using come out to about 4 grand.... we're doing a couple of sets and you can be rest assured I won't be walking around socialising while my 2 baby's are up there on stage for the taking!!

For some reason, I've gathered up a lot of FX pedals over the years that do nothing for me. I still have an old Maestro distortion, but a wire is busted on the battery hookup...I'll fix that one day.

I have 5 or 6 Danelectros...LOL...I actually do like the slapback echo reverb thingie. I like the cheapo Zoom, too, & have programmed a few great tones with it. I have a bass Zoom, too, but I usually only use it as a tuner.

As a solo acoustic guy, I use an old Peavey single switch thing that has chorus, flange & digital echo. Love that thing! It hasta be 22-23 yrs old.

Acoustic strings - Martin Med's, although after I just restrung my axe for the gig today, & they feel kinda heavy to me these days!

'Lectric strings I use D'Addarios, again in med's.

Tried a buncha cables over the years. Like sans, I've used a lot of those cloth-wrapped cables in a slew of brands. They last forever but they're so damned ugly! I also had limited luck with those cables that have the springs wrapped around the ends to supposedly save them from breakdowns. I end up tossing nearly every "lifetime guaranteed" cable I ever bought, cuz I don't keep receipts where I can find them when I need them.

These days I find I'm pretty happy with AXL's. I use the single 90 end ones, & run 'em through the strap to plug in the base of my axes. They stay put, don't get unplugged when I step on 'em, & look sleeker than the straight cables do.

There was a time that I bought a roll of cable wire & made my own in flourescent colors - didn't hafta worry about ppl stealing that pretty pink cable at open mics, but they broke a lot.

Kramer, I acquired a POD PRO rack mount unit and I actually took it out and hooked it to our PA system last night and tweaked on it some. The effects in the Line 6 stuff are great for low volume playing. But the higher you go in volume the more you need to cut back the effects. Thats my take on it. What Im going to do is put the POD in our rack and if we play a super low volume gig I might use it, but for normal gigs I will mic my amp and then let the soundman feed a signal over to the POD, so Ill have a live amp and the POD going at once to really thicken things up. The only mistake I made is that i got the older POD unit, I think the newer ones you can mix two amp sounds at once. Mine has a Line 6 Layer setting, and so far that s all Ive figured out. I wanted to combine a Fender Clean tone, a Marshall JCM 800 or JTM 45 tone and then my live Mesa sound. Since Im the only guitarist I need to fill a lot of space.

Crip, So basically youve nailed down 4 good tones and left it at that. I know live on my Mesa amps I tend to lean toward a Vintage Mesa Recto sound, and then use pedals to spike it here and there.

I was kind of down on Line 6 products at one time but these days I use a Line 6 Delay Modeler on my pedal board and now the POD PRO. The POD is great cause it really does nail a lot of different tones. I have some fantastic amps, but they all have one basic sound that works to my ears. All they really do is change the amount of gain in the sound. So the POD is kind of a tone learning tool for me, plus I can take it to work and plug headphones in it for a quick practice session here and there.

Crip Happy Birthday

I wish we lived closer together, I would love to get our bands on a double bill somewhere Aint Yo Mama/Panik Attack that would look good on a billboard.

A side note Aint Yo Mama as a name is 20 yrs old, we found this documentary guy that may do a documentary or rockumentary on our group, who knows it might show up in a theatre near you so you could go get the Aint Yo Mama experience.

Cables are easy to fix, if your can do a little soldering. Even for a mechanicaly challenged person like me.
9 times out of 10 its the soldered stuff at the ends that breaks.
Supposed to run yer cable through the strap so you dont step on it and unplug yourself. Keeps it away from your feet a bit and secures it.
Im not so sure about any great sound difference between the high end stuff and the cheap stuff.

What kind of solder kit is best?
Silver?
I used to solder a lot. My father taught me years ago.
I need to rediscover that talent. I intend to open my own shop in the coming year.
I have yet to step on my wireless. Although my slew footed backup vocalist did once.

Hey Crip, you'll be shocked to find out it's a replica of the LP, built to the exact specs, with grover tuners, mahogany, etc.. even the binding is replicated. All for $200, and it feels better than a LP to me lol.

JW-
I use the GNX3000 pedal, haven't yet found a sound I can't duplicate with it. I plugged it into the PA last week and separated the stereo and it sounded pretty amazing. No amp needed anymore I guess :D

I bought the pedal though, out of frustration of the line6 effects. The chorus and flanger were the most frustrating, so oversaturated and warbly, I like a really slow chorus/flange effect with really only a hint of saturation. Ah well.
