I used to work at Kalua Music on Kingston Rd. in Toronto from 1974-1977. Saga came in when they were ready to do their first bar gigs to rent a P.A. system. While all this was going on Ian Crichton went into the "sound room" beside the rental department to blast through some of the amps (now remember, this is well before Van Halen released their first album) and he started with the tapping. Me and my buddy Lee looked at each other and went "what the f**k is THAT"? We immediately stopped gathering the P.A. gear together and went into the room where this wild sound was coming from to see just how the hell he was doing it!
