General Music Chat

A buddy and local musician passed recently and we held a memorial /tribute for him last wk to raise some money for his favorite charity, Blues In Schools. Collected $213 in tip jar towards that. He was a great guy (heart attack at 58) and fine musician. It was both bittersweet and a lot of fun as a lot of local musicians came out to celebrate him.

Dave was a cool dude and one hell of a harp player. One night at a prct for a few upcoming gigs that i was to be playing with his band, The Calvin Street Band....he mentioned he played mandolin and was asking about the FLATIRON mando I was playing. I handed it over to him to check out and then after looking it over, and after some prompting from me....he played some really nice stuff on it. Blew my mind, cos tho i've known and played w a lot of harp players over the yrs....Dave might have been the first (to my knowledge, anyway) to double on mando!

Sorry for your loss Planet. We have lost several musician friends and band mates over the years and it never gets easy. If you play one for him next gig you know he's gotta be listening.
