Sarah and I had a blast playing three weird and enjoyable gigs this past wkend. A Living Windows deal (my first time doing that), a regular bar gig on Friday at a cool place that's more often than not frequented by listeners quietly paying attention. And Saturday we played our first Holiday party. (and we skated without playing ANY holiday music!)

At the bar gig someone shot some low budget phone video (NO, TED...WE WILL NOT BE USING THESE FOR PROMO PURPOSES!) :D

they're all little 30-40 second snippets, and oddly enough they're all original tunes. I wish they'd shot the whole song on these cos I'd love to see the whole performance.

Mr. Peirce...you might be happy to know that Sarah is on violin on three of these!

Planet Jazz has been playing this first one, "Roger The Mouse" for a while now. Thinking about it, damn... this tune is actually about 40 yrs old!

I'm used to playing this tune on nicely set up elec gtrs, relaxing at a nicely set table of drums and bass! This is really challenging for me, playing this stuff on acoustic (albeit that very NICE Guild 130R of Sarah's), with just light accompaniment from violin. Of course, it's tons of fun, and very good for my little brain to have to make this kind of stuff work in the moment. for better or worse....that's how i play. I'm not a "hey, i'll just work a solo out and play THAT everytime" kinda guy. This is the first time we played it out....

thanks, dane. but give it to me straight, please.

for my take on it.....in the moment at the gig, we both felt like we were really in sync and bringing it. and getting these videos this AM, I feel that still. I do wish the whole tunes had been filmed cos Sarah took some great solos on these tunes and well, i didn't embarrass myself either!

When will people learn that they can turn their phones sideways to take videos and photos?

Good job not stooping to the holiday tunes - still a little early in the month, but as long as the people booking you knew! I usually learn one new rock holiday song each year, this year its Greg Lakes 'I Believe in Father Christmas'. Of course I quickly forget them after the season passes, so never build up a 'holiday set list'!

I played a 'songwriters in the round' with 2 others Friday night. Small turnout, but we each made gas money+.
I'm really done with solo shows now. (well, nothing booked). I had one person ask me what I charged, but I think he might want me to run another open mic on the alternate weeks from the one I host now. That would be fine for me - I make more running an open mic than I would in any band gig around here. Haven't had any good 'bites' from my last craigslist ad, I'll start that again after the holidays

me. i'm biased... but i'd recommend turning your spkrs ON if listening is of importance, otherwise leave the vol off and swing Yod style, baybee! Of course....you STILL won't be able to hear the singing. :D

mucho gracias to my amigos who checked it out. 8)
