Do you think it's ok for older rockers to bastardize one of their tunes to make it a "dance mix"?

I was just listening to the radio and I had the misfortune to hear Steve Perry/Journey doing a dance version of "Don't stop believing".

I felt like I almost had to puke right then and there.

I was in 4th grade when "Open Arms" was a hit. We used to make fun of it and sing "Broken Arms"

Yes we are working on a third set that is not as heavy with a couple of cover tunes and two more originals brewin.
Also kind of re doing the whole sound thing as I've stomped my stomps and gone tube amp. Had a productive practice tonight. I love doing music, what a rush.
