I've only done one decent recording with it, but I'm using a computer I built, nothing special just a plain jane P-III 1000 running win98 and onboard sound, old Shure PE35L mic into a Tascam Portastudio 414 then line out to the computer running Audacity. I bypass the tape int he Tascam altogether, just using the monitor signal into the computer.
I'm just learning to use it, got a couple of other tunes started but haven't gotten a good rhythm track yet, and around here it's rare I get enough quiet to record at all except at 3AM and then I can't run an amp...No insulation in this place, dogs a half block away wake me up regularly at 2-4AM...mic picks up every car that drives by, every dog bark, every kid laughing or screaming...
Did get a decent remix of the one good song though, and just posted it, pulled the original and started a thread on it.
All my previous recording was done a couple of different ways. Reel to reel into CD burner, ping pong one to the other to get a full band, not great but did get a couple that sounded decent, and a home stereo level dual cassette, just plain bad...Still have some of the reel to reel/CD stuff, might post the best one again for a while so you guys can hear what I was up to 10 -12 years ago. Have a couple of decent ones where I played all instruments that came out well, one Kenny Wayne Shepperd cover (instrumental) in particular.
Did have a go at one demo around '90-91 with a 4 track Tascam, but band "leader" didn't know how to use it and insisted on micing the room, not the instruments, and wouldn't even consider multitracking it...turned out mediocre at best and I never got a copy. I guess he was too busy guzzling Budweiser to make me one...
