We're new to working with computers in terms of audio recording and working with DAWs. In February, we will be recording one of our member's other band named Wild Card. It's their last gig and we are wondering what equipment might be necessary to record all their equipment in decent quality (working on a tight budget). Their gig goes from 9:00pm to about 2:00am.
Ideally, we would like to record straight to the MacBook or Windows laptop, but we know we need microphones and some type of module to interface between the equipment and the computer. We want to avoid any inconsistencies in the recording as well as produce the best quality sound within reason considering all the noise pollution that might affect it. It may seem impossible, but we want to stay under $100 total in all the equipment we might need. We can go over by $50 if the budget needs to be stretched, but ideally, we want to stay under that.
Equipment used at gig:
The keyboard, guitar, and the bass get put through the soundboard, to the P.A. speakers. The 3 microphones are used for vocals. We are currently unsure how the laptop will fit into the mix.
We would like recommendations of hardware and possibly software that will be useful in the recording of the gig, and information on how to set everything up.
Any help is useful
Thank you,
December Red Cats
