Forget about impressing people write the song. There are no rules when composing music or writing lyrics. When I write a song sometimes the lyrics come first. "In My Mind" I wrote those lyrics on the way into work. Sometimes the music comes first, sometimes the music and lyrics come at the same time, when I am just beating around on my acoustic.
