yep, missed the original post since it brought out into light very valid points and arguments about the reason why this place has been ruined..

This place isn't ruined. I know of many music forums that only have a couple of posts a month, and many more that I used to participate in have closed up shop. It's just a sign of the times, nothing more.

Take a look at the Ultimate Guitar forums, crybabies, know-it-alls, general misinformation and basement wannabes.

If by "this place" you mean the forum, I have to agree. But if by "this place" you mean BandMix as a networking site to find possible collaborators or bandmates, I've found it very disappointing. It's very difficult to navigate. After two months, I decided that it wasn't worth the expense to be a "premium" member.

Your mileage may vary.

If you're looking for a band or band members and find some possibilities in the profile listings (that are current), then it can be worthwhile to pay the premium for a month to contact them.

the whole world is becoming ruined, if you want my opinion, I agree many websites have died off, and if you scrutinize it, it seems the more silly, or superficial the website the higher the cult following and popularity..at the swap meet today, set up across from Lynard Dylan, and was a great day to get off the internet and talk with real people, and getting feedback from real music appreciative "fans" .. a guy bought a set of ROYAL WORCESTER horseshoes today and had forgotten his face until he stated he remembered me wowing him several times playing guitar as he passed by me in the past at the swap meet, guess he is a fan cause he actually has heard me and is honest and was not hiding his true nature cUSE OF some sort of axe to grind, or because my personality does not live up to his expectations, he was just an admirer of a good guitarist and was not playing games not divulging that true fact because of other reasons..LOL...

other institutions are dying off, heard today the Woods Supermarket parking lot at the north end used as a swap meet on Wednesdays has closed, and a Dollar General Store will be sitting ther upon completion..

Fair Play swap meet is dying too, either because the corporations are sucking all the last discretionary dollars out of the class of people that live in this region or it is because habits are changing? don't know yet other than people don't buy or refuse to pay a fair price for an iten a vendor is attempting to sell..too many times a vendor is asked to lower their price to an absurd level and vendors will stop coming, maybe it is just internet online sales that is causing J.C. Penney's Sears Macy's etc. tpo close stores, and the swap meet phenomena is tailing their coat tails into oblivion? .. I only sold $273.00 of merch today when I averaged 350.00 to 400.00 in the past?? some of us today attributed it to too many vendors today making it thin for everybody..

this place is ruined Part 2 is not a fad but a realization nothing stays the same, even relationships with people whom you found out later to be a ravenous wolf inside sheeps clothing pretending to be the good guy duping others into misconceptions.. :D

this place is ruined Part 2, is not caused by personalities but in my opinion by content, what do people post and why? are there guidelines as to what is relevant and considered enjoyable and wholesome? what draws in forum members and increases viewership ? is it really the trainwreck threads that people are drawn to? if that's truly the case, and one here has stated why the ready thread has so many views is because people enjoy reading a storyline that is best controversial, and worst case the people degrading him are actually looking at others comments to see if they were as mean and vile as the others degrading and humiliating somebody that is simply wanting to find band members? are they not the same forum members that accuse the innocent of being passive aggressive? really, as Jesus said take the beam out of your own eye first and then proceed to help the other, you will never succeed at being a hypocrite by doing dirty deeds to others and then being self-righteuos in a false fashion..

We must judge ourselves, and judge of our own acts, but not make our word a law to everybody. We must not judge rashly, nor pass judgment upon our brother without any ground. We must not make the worst of people. Here is a just reproof to those who quarrel with their brethren for small faults, while they allow themselves in greater ones.

So how about talking about music and music-related things? Because people would rather bitch and complain, more often than not.
This morning I started reading a short article/editorial in a few-weeks-old Boston Sunday Globe Magazine from a millennial who starts off by saying that 'boomers' are always citing millennials as 'whining/complaining' and it looks like she then goes on to say they have every right to complain and they should do more of it!

I have read also that millenials prefer spending money on "experiences" rather than "things" ..if that's the case why are bands playing out not getting paid more money due to the fact millenials prefer experiences like seeing live musical acts playing in venues?.. face it, this place is ruined, and the rich and wealthy top 5% don't care..

Because to them, the 'experience' is not the band playing, it's being SOMEWHERE with a bunch of other millennials. It could be a DJ playing endless bass-driven dance music, or just tonight's sports game on the tvs.

Music, to them, is something they've rarely had to pay for - they've been ripping streams off the internet all their lives. If they pay to go to a concert, it's to be with their friends, drink, party, the music is the secondary part of it.

So true. And if you have an Internet ready TV you can watch some of the best bands in the world for a free concert in your own living room. And you can go band hopping as opposed to club hopping from the comfort of an easy chair or recliner.
