so, 1966....i'm guessing that was Scott Lafaro on bass. That guy was an absolute monster and left us when he was too young. That was one of the great trios for sure and is credited for changing the previous hierarchy of piano trios.... that up to that point had been mostly about the pianist. Besides Evan's super cool and hip chord voicings and all around great playin.....that's one of the things he's best known for......putting the drums and bass on equal footing w the piano in the trio setting.

I love LaFaro's playing and his to die for chops that never got in the way of his solid playing....but still, I'm partial to the later lineup that included Eddie Gomez on bass. HUUUUUGE E.G. fan, here.
