It would be helpful if...

1) You put a sample of your singing up on your player.

2) You were more specific about what you need the help on.

You will find alot of veteran musicians and artists here, that can help you out. Just let us know what you need, what you are trying to accomplish.

Welcome to BandMix!

Hey Girl,

Yeah , Craig pretty much laid it out...Only thing I would add at this point would be that even though you dont play an instrument (none listed),learn some basic music theory.(if ya havent already).Know your keys and how chords work within them..Know how to arrange songs and be able to collaborate on those properties with other musicians...Having knowledge will make more seasoned musicians take you seriously...

Yeah , let us know what some of your short and long term goals are.

John

Damn she's hot: OOPS did I type that out loud.
To be serious for a moment, and for give me for soundin like a grandpa but hey I am.
EDUCATION ! unless your really freekin smart, at 18 you probably dont have a degree yet. Singing can be your life but you simply must get an education if your going to compete today and in the future. Yes some people go over the top without it but tis damn rare.

First I'd recommend changing your profile and include general vocalist in your 'instruments played'. When people search, very few would specify soprano vocalist. I assume that as well when I'm searching.

Second, the "seeking" or 'looking for' you have a lot of horns and other vocalists listed, but not "band" and the general guitar, bass, drums get lost in the mix.

With your profile set to country, southern rock, you need to be more general and less vague in what you are looking for.

Other than that, yes, like craig said, you need samples! I got nothing on hits until I put some up, and once I did, I got tons of responses. It's like a virtual resume, and with all the posers out there, many won't give you the time of day unless you got something to at least give them an idea of what level of talent you possess.

Even if you have to use a crappy PC microphone, download some crappy recording freeware and just sing a few notes into the pc, and then convert it to mp3, it's a far cry better than nothing!

Hope that helps! Good luck!

Makayla,
Go here:
.
http://www.ascap.com/nashville/murphy/index.html
.
And read every article. It's A.S.C.A.P. - a musician's organization. There are tons and tons of excellent articles . . . .
.
Then go to another music site, Taxi.com, and do the same thing.
.
These 2 places will help open your eyes about a lot of aspects of the music world.
Then go to the mySpace musician's search page & type in you local city for the latest daily openings . . . also your local Craig's List.
.
Go to several different local open mikes, and get your feet wet.
.
Visit your local music store, and put up a 'singer available' poster.
.
You have to do it yourself. Take these steps first, & you may prove to yourself just how strong your interest actually is.
Good luck.

Great suggestions out here, wow so much for myself to look into as well.
I would say to Makayla (great name!!)
Just follow your heart, sings whenever you can, do scales, vocalise, take lessons. Don't do waht I did. I happend to have finished my education and ll that is good, please do that, but then I wnet and worked business jobs for years, ebing unhappy underneath and trying to fit my coverband into my busy schedule and actually I was alwasy too tired for singing.
So sing! It has to be your priority. finish your school, but belive in yourself and do not let it get undershadowed, because these days we all need to be younger and (erh Iam 29 but I look sexy enough  I hope, it is more about sex apeal then age hopefully lol   :P ).
I just worked and worked and got older and now have so much catching up to do.
O yeah try and write some original stuff, it is real good practise, l;earn to play an instrument, so you really learn to sing to musc and in key and then youcan write (tadaah if you already have some poetry/or diary stuff it will work just fine). So you can really LOVE it even so much better. I love music even so much more now I got some original stuff.
O yeah, covers work fine to get noticed so go for it.
Get training and schooling and lots af advice, but listen to your OWN Heart, ok hon????
