C,mon Irmy ,
Everyone knows real harps have strings. I do a bit of timber cutting from time to time and it don't bother me when some misinformed git-fiddler calls his instrument an axe.

FishermanBob,
100 % spot on. I'm not chopped liver on the stringless harp myself. In fact, at the expense of sounding immodest, I'm one of the best in my neck of the woods. I don't like to hear myself blowin' more then once a set.

As pertains to the topic at hand, bad harmonica playing is in fact notoriously annoying, but a good one is a match for any string plucker!
Actually, I would delight in jammin' with both you guys on a trio for bass, harp, and harmonica , afterwhich, we could do a little fishin' and shootin'.

I'm with ya, Bob. It's an effect instrument.

Heck, I feel that way about pretty much ALL the reed indtruments, cuz after awhile they just cut through my spine like a serrated knife.

Yeah....even a sax get to me after a short time.

Oh, but the electric guitar 'is' an axe. Allow me to demonstrate...
There is very little that is a match for a good string plucker. :D
However, I would say that guitarists in general are usually the annoying offenders of a band.

I don't think they use these in a band context, but the accordion is the most annoying instrument to me.

Well vocalists are clearly NOT the most annoying as we are just perfect :P

Love these answers...mostly cuz in every band I've ever been in they tell me the bass player's the most annoying... ...I hope they were talking about the one they got before me

Ohhh you'd be surprised, my friend. In fact I still run into people at live shows that ask me what a man is doing playing a harp. Weird, when you know that the vast majority of harp history places it in the hands of males (especially the itinerant harpers, because the vocation was so dangerous back in the day, for a variety of reasons).

Irmy,

Watcha, say we tie two threads together and consider the ultimate in the fusion of harp virtuosity and showmanship.

Does the name "Adolph A Marx" mean anything to ya?

How could ANYONE not know of the great Harpo Marx? Eye popping performances, he did. Not much of a talker, though.

Definitely not much of a talker, lol. Harp players can be men or women, no one should put a gender tag on that.

The one in a band who annoys me the most... Hmm... Well, if it is a normal bass, guitar, vocalist, drums, and maybe another guitar... I don't mind. But sometimes a keyboardist can be annoying, or sometimes any strange instruments, like cowbells! (THAT GOES OUT TO YOU BLUE OYSTER CULT!) Lmao.

Peace, GuitarAnatomy.

You just reminded me of the old lead singer for the B-52's, Fred Schneider. When he wasn't singing, he'd wail on that cowbell and I wanted to wrap that thing around his scrawny neck, it was so annoying.

I wanted to wrap something around Fred Schneider's neck when he WAS "singing." Talk about annoying. Later...
