really tight sound you guys got going there.
Don't you have several groups you work with?
mucho gracias senor jahva!
yeah. i've always been a musical polygamist!
that one my favorite lineup? hmmmm.
no, but i do LOVE playing in that lineup and the freedom (and yes control/authority

) that i have playing the main melody instrument(s) and being the only harmony (chordal) instrument in the deal.
we play like that 6 mos a yr and then our saxist/clarenetist returns to the fold (he summers up in WI) and things change up some. things are a lot more "structured" w him.
i have to say that my favorite, and my wife's favorite lineup as well... is the previous version of PLANET JAZZ when i was playing bass w the sax man and our drummer.
i LOVE playing bass behind a really good hornman w a great drummer when there's no gtrst or keys there! (sorry DP!). wow. talk about some "freedom" and "control/authority"!
sadly i almost never get to play bass in that lineup except for when Bill our bassplayer has a gig w one of his other deals.
this is a video of that trio line up w me on bass.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiYEFNijKtoi also play mando and dobro, and lap steel w THE MERE MORTALS. it's a five pc folk/bluegrass/jazzgrass group. sometimes when Bill (yep same bassman) can't make the gig or a prct i play upright bass.
vidjo here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJ1EMlLwsVYand for almost 4 yrs now i've been playing bass with THE 121's at a Columbia MO truckstop off I-70. We're the house band and play three wkends on..one wkend off. It's worked out well, cos i can skate out of gigs here and there by bringing one of a few ably qualified subs in. it's a four pc bar band. VERY good players. good guys to hang with too. we mostly play older country, a cpl of newer cntry tunes that aren't too terribly vomit inducing, and of course your basic staple of classic rock tunes and blues. a cpl of mos ago we had our very first practice to pick up a few new tunes.
the band is very tight but it's a real loose vibe and we just go across the stage calling tunes as we see fit. often someone will call a new tune the band's never done or maybe even heard before and everyone almost always lands on their feet. sorry no video. i need to get some.
and finally, i'm still doing my least favorite gig...solo instrumental gtr for weddings, corporate, wineries, etc. yeah, it IS an easy well paying gig of sorts but i'm a band guy! and playing solo...i bore myself shitless!
thanks again for the view and props!
