Glen ... I thank you for your Post. I agree ... harsh ... of course. Truth and Reality are quite often very "harsh" when they merge. I feel like I live in a Zoo.
Here is an excellent assessment of Truth. Truth which soon will become very HARSH ...

Planet Guy ... I posted this for you earlier and possibly you may have missed it ...
Planet Guy … finally I have had time to sit and write something more personal than "News of the Fall". I appreciate very much you thinking of me and telling me about the Article-Interview.
It is interesting that McCaslin stated he is not supposed to talk about it. The entire Last Undertaking of David Bowie is aptly shrouded in deep mystery and deep well thought out symbolism. This alone makes it appealing to me. His musical direction throughout his entire life has been made obvious by his Final Project. I feel that it most decidedly was a specific direction unlike many who seem to have felt throughout that it was either misdirection or simple meandering.
At least McCaslin was able to please Bowie with the end result which is no light accomplishment. It make sense that he played on "Nothing Has Changed". It is all a great storie. I think anyone who is skeptical of "Electronica"is astute. I remember when musical programs on home computers became all the rage and suddenly everyone was a "Musician" instead of whatever they really were. Of course I see their use as a tool but somehow have in the creation of my shows avoided being tied to them I would rather spend time in a church singing with the natural echo and reverb or in a home studio working for long hours and feeling the sweaty intensity of a submarine lying on the bottom waiting for that moment when it is over and you resurface from the dark depths and feel the cold wind and fresh air and see the dawn explode on the horizon giving you goose bumps of inspiration and making you feel like running and yelling and roaring … releasing what is inside … the raw joy of creating.
I had actually heard Perpetual Motion a while ago without knowing anything about it. I have listened to Casting for Gravity since you tweaked my interest and like it better … Fast Future is not my scene but it is way different than I somehow expected. My ex-girlfriend and fiancee in California … I called "BeBop" and so I am familiar with that.
I have yet to hear 54 Cymru but I will. "Hard Driving Vamp" is a new term for me but I rather like it. Toni Visconti is a favourite of mine in production. He is somehow synonymous with Bowie in much the same way Klaus Kinski and Werner Herzog are for me. Real Style and Sophistication, both with unique penetrating appeal, quite unlike much of the crap produced now by the highly controlled and unoriginal "music industry". As usual the best is the independent original artists who do music not for money but because that is what flows in their blood, our their mouth and through their fingers.
I enjoyed the recount of the recording and making … creating. I always think of Bowie with an acoustic in a stuffy studio packed with raw talent gathered like wild flowers in the field growing from the same soil. Bowie picks them and brings them together in a bouquet of often rare and exquisite beauty. I know of his ego and how he uses it in a creative environment to interface and encourage the other egos nestled around him, letting them run free at times but never away. I have tried to emulate this in my own experiences. I have been however called a Dictator by a few musicians so perhaps I have failed in this, but then again perhaps not.
Bowie always had an "odd flow". Many have tried to copy him and more have failed. I believe that you can always hear the various musicians he has used with a sort of overview that he always directs. McCaslin's account is very detailed and I found it very enjoyable and informative, cementing further my impressions and beliefs regarding Bowie. Thank you Planet Guy. I take great pleasure in that you took the time and made the effort with respect to our sometimes heated sparring to actually consider me and do this … that is of great value to me and I shall always remember it and take pleasure in it.
"Living The Art" is a most excellent term. It applies to most on BM regardless of what any including myself may think of them as they distinguish themselves by their music and interchanges here on the field of music despite all the other rigours of their lives and obstacles they must overcome to do that which they do and are. I always find it all rather motivating and inspirational … the fray and frolic of us all, most never to meet except in another world of individual and creative wavelength and frequency that we shall still possess even after our physical deaths.
McCaslin needs to do "Bowie" and finish it … no one else can.
I look forward to conversation. Ta
