no, it's not a new laxative or paint remover....could possibly be marketed as a sleeping tonic.

here's another elec mando tune from yesterday's mother's day gig. got to play it for mom and dad who are in town visiting from nyc!

after the usual 6/8 intro i decided we should try it w a reggae feel when it kicks into 4/4. we went once thru the A section..."uh, oh...BAAAAAD IDEA!" "hey, guys...drop the reggae bit"....and then we went to some other 4/4 groove other than the usual bit. not terrible..but, uh...well, different. hey, Mom dug it! so, really what else matters???

i see you guys have met my mom!!!

upon listening/watching the video...the reggae experiment worked better than i was thinking it was(n't) at the time. the groove wasn't bad....but i felt the melody was a little too busy too cram in w that groove. funny because when we play it straight, we often take it even faster sometimes.

interesting how melodies have a certain range (tempo wise) where they work best.

do you mean timbales? or steel pans? he has a nice set of brass LP timbales that i sold him yrs ago, but he gets great timbale sounds when he flips off his snares.
