If it works the same as the effects loop in my Peavey, it probably will work as a straight line out signal without affecting the speaker signal. The effects loop takes the internal signal from the preamp section of the amp and routes it through the external effects, then back into the power amp section of the amp. That means it also already includes any EQ and preamp gain you already have dialed in since the power amp is just an amp with only one control, volume. (that's the Master Volume)

I used mine for a long time to run stereo guitar onstage. Our bass player kept complaining he couldn't hear me, even when I was too loud on my side of the stage. Very directional speakers. So I got the idea to use my Arion Analog Delay, which has mono in and stereo out, to separate the signal and sent it to a small PA amp on his side of the stage. It did go back into the effects loop, since it still acted as delay for the main amp as well.

I've used it different ways too, a friend borrowed it while his bass amp was in the shop, he used the effects in side straight from his processor, and into the speakers rather than the main guitar input, it worked that way. Our current bass player uses a 4 channel Peavey keyboard amp with internal speaker, and uses the preamp out to send a line signal to the PA board, still has speaker output.

So I think it will work, the effects look should be independent of the speaker signal, and let you use it as a line out signal without killing the speaker output. Just remember it will also send any changes you make to the preamp section including in line effects along with the line signal. That was why it worked so well as a stereo amp, once I got the initial volume setting, everything else was controlled from the main amp, never had to touch the secondary PA amp again. As far as tone goes, you couldn't tell the difference between the two sides since the effects out signal included all EQ and effects that were there when the signal left the preamp section.

I must have missed the sound card issue, can't help you there...

Oh yeah, the Equipment and tech help section may have been a better place for this question, people who check there are looking for things like this.

Jook, I highly recommend taking any stereo pedal and plug it into any two amp you've got, just for at least one jam or solo session. Reverb, delay, chorus, octave (one wet/ one dry) or my favorite, the Boss Flanger 3. I can make the stereo signal warble between my 2 15" bass amps while I use my 10" for a stabbing Big Muff attack. :D

Who's up for makin some noise this weekend? :o

ARION effects, esp the older ones when they were still made in Japan are real sleeper pedals!

I have an older Japanese made ARION Chorus that i absolutely love. nice at slow to mid speeds, and crank it and it cops a pretty good leslie tone. (well, as good as any "pedal" can)

I have an ARION compressor that is a dud, though. no matter how light a ratio you dial in...it never sounds natural and always "pumps".

I have a Hartke acoustic guitar amp that I bought based on great sound in Sam Ash, but it only performs worth a darn for me with much higher end guitars than I own. :?

Loud enough to compete with a drum set. With high headroom. Dang.

What soundcard are you using that you are having issues with? If its the internal one, that's your problem- they are not set up for direct monitoring of the input while listening to what's being played in the computer. However your DAW should have a 'monitor' option on the recording track (there may be some latency).
