A dark day for me personally, Bowie was ever an inspiration.

Evidently not to 'RGMix' (by the way RG, the proper grammatical word would be 'knew', not 'new'). The loss of any serviceman is tragic, but no one here knew (not new) him. Why not bitch about the dozens of others killed in the last few months?

Nice tribute Mike. You're a good guy. I just get sick of creeps like RGAsshole and Glenny. Those two pukes are good for nothing in my book. That's why I left this place before. There's nothing wrong with paying tribute to a fallen soldier, just do it in the appropriate place.

I don't think anyone here would downplay the death of any serviceman in action. My heart also goes out to those in the Middle East who are being killed every day for their spiritual beliefs. The world is full of evil people.

I'm not trying to make a 'martyr' out of Bowie, far from it. I'm really not a big fan as far as that is concerned. But some of his music brings back memories of a more innocent era in my life. A time I wish I could go back to but it's long gone. It's just a nostalgia trip on my part.

I agree, Bowies music is the soundtrack of my life. He will forever be missed!

i've been spending time on FaceBook pimping my books. I've noticed a level of vitriol in some discussions there that makes Bandmix look like a center of spiritual and cultural excellence.

Decent people should be able to disagree respectfully. Maybe I'm wrong though...

but i agree, they are SUPER cool machines. then again, oboe and english horn are pretty spiffy as well.

saw bela fleck a few yrs back and he had this monster bassoonist w him. (or as haley might say in a "deliberate" effort to appear a moron so as to mock me...a "bafoonist")

the guy completely stole the show!

I should note that in a very well done PBS broadcast of "Sharpe's Rifles" the Duke of Wellington complained that London instead of sending him real soldiers was sending him "effete, over fed bafoons!"
