One of the Ramones...the last one to die...was a huge Bush supporter/Republican. If you can figure that one out.

Hey Rootsy,

I'm also a fan of Casey Chambers and Iris Dement.

There's a band that started out on 4AD (label) called Tarnation.

The singer is called Paula Fraser, and she gets compared to Patsy Cline

an awful lot. The album "gentle creatures" has one of my favorite songs;

"The hand". It is a spooky/gothic/alt/country track that I never tire of.

Bet your a fan of Neko Case also. Dye

"Tarnations" is a cool name.
I like Iris D. pretty well. She has that authentic mountain voice.

Have heard of Neko Case, but thats all. My "alt" library is pretty small actually. But I'd like to get into more of that kind of vibe. Am very familiar with the ''grandaddies" of the genre like Graham Parsons, Townes VZ, etc.
But I'm an old guy, 49. I just havn't kept up that well. Most of my music purchases for the last 10-15 yrs have been bluegrass for the most part.

You'd think here in South AL there would be lots of younger folks into that kind of thing, but its a wasteland of top 40 CMT and VH1.
Even good bluegrass is considered a novelty at best by the average person.

Too bad my real job keeps me out here in Lost Egyptian Boonies, surrounded by Praise Bands, 16 yr old Rap wannabies, and people who think good music comes out of a Karoke machine

Dictionary would be a good start. After that I'd recommend a book on punctuation, capitalization, & proper grammar. Perhaps you should have paid attention to your teacher's lesson instead of her legs. You may have gotten more than 3 replies to your 42 messages if people could read what you type! See how that works?

Thanks for that Diva

Rootsy:

My husband and I are from Philly, where there are opportunities to hear

all sorts of sounds. Now we live in the woods in rural Vermont, it's

gorgeous but isolated, so I know what you're saying.

My spouse was into Emilou, Graham, and Townes. I was into a little alt

country but he got me listening to the older stuff.

I like Bela Fleck and Bartok.

My hubby did the Dead/Drugs thing before it was over in the 80's.

I never could dig the jam bands though.

Not a dropper of acid either (maybe that's why).

I think it's just too loose and meandering for me.
