I need to test these for operation, I was told they work, but I know how that goes, since I did not acquire the speaker columns for a load, I need to build or purchase a load box, to test these, I was a ham once and realize I had a dummy load canister filled with oil to test ham radios, but would a dummy load can work for testing power amps too, I am not going to blow these amps up without knowing for sure how to test without a speaker load..once I know they are running, I either want to rent them out to bands or sell them..

So you want to put them on a scope to test them? I would use speakers. I want to hear em to make sure they aren't trashed. Might need some monster resistors to soak up the big ones too.

thanks Dave for the reply, I wish I had speakers , I think I do have a set of Pioneer stereo speakers out in the barn, but do you think they would hold up to the 800 watt Crown ? would there be a chance of these amps being too powerful for them?

I doubt any home stereo speakers are up to the full power challenge. Keep the gain down real low and at least you can test the amps to see if they work. You might have to rent some big stacks to test these at full (or 50%) power).

thanks Mike, but since I have $325.00 invested already, I am not sure I want to throw more money in to it renting some stacks, ideally somebody would have a schematic for a load tester box maybe I could get my brake press out and work up a aluminum sheet metal box or maybe use plexiglass and solder up some resistors capacitors, or whatever to get a load box made.. I could hand-wire it.. maybe I will have to load them up and take them to Springfield Music and pay a fee to test? these were all acquired at an auction selling out a somewhat semi-fanmous Springfield rock band the owner had a heart attack and died at 47 y/o//
