It's funny - handguns aren't worth much in a real scrap but they are very useful in keeping Feds and other criminals worried. They just can't tell when you might be packing.

The little guys can stand up to the big guys and the criminal classes hate that.

Talbot ... I thank you for your Post and assessment. Where I came from they would say a handgun is a long range knife. However in certain situations a handgun can be a tremendous equaliser. And at close range in a scrap they can be rather decisive. I know in VietNam many who went there would ask their relatives to send them handguns.

The true enemies of what was once the USA are those trotting about in the "Halls of Government" plotting, murdering and enabling Evil. The Patriotic and moral are not . I have been offline as it were for about threedays and just came back on this morning. There seems to be more "odd" things about than normal. If it is all due to the 4th, Jade Helm etc. etc. I know not but this is one of the more exceptional ones I encountered. Has anyone heard anymore to this effect ... Texans especially. I just thought i would "share" this with all of you. This takes everything up a notch regarding the current "circus of affairs". And while you are at it please give forth your opinions on the "Dirty Nuke" possibility either this holiday or upcoming. Enquiring minds want to know. At present it seems that the only dangerous "fusion" taking place aside from in the leaking reactors scattered about the country ... is that within the "Threat Fusion Centres" which has been going on for a bit now. There is a general "feeling" however which seems fairly extensive that this summer and Sept and Oct will see unprecedented "actions" both celestial and manmade. I personally believe that the possibility of all this is great but the Russian aid is new to me. It recalls the words Red Herring.

I wish you all a good "Holiday" nevertheless and enjoy you families, friends and possibly even the "fireworks". I fondly recall picnics, pop, watermelon, black cats, ash cans and cherry bombs, games and races with relatives in the Park and of course barbecues. Parades, Flags and celebration of the Constitution, Founding Fathers, God and Country ...it all seems so very innocent and uninformed now does it not.

We grew up in an innocent age that soon morphed into this sort of slow motion nightmare we have now.

As to handguns - I always carried one in battle. Not much use on the battlefield but it could build your comfort zone, keep you from being captured and give a way out if you got one off those wounds we don't like to talk about.

Living in a free country (Rhodesia) at the time it only took five minutes to get my permit for off duty carry as well.

in America - a formerly free country that rejected rule of law in favor of bread and circuses the handgun has come into it's own. Not since Col. John S. Mosby terrorized the Yankees with his Colt six shooters have the statists ever spent an unworried moment knowing we peasants could kill them whenever we felt like it. It is just a question of time before BM is accused of harbouring "sensitive material". Everyone would be well advised to examine their own sources of income, whatever they may be, and think about the possibility of their health should Censorship be implemented and costings rise ... all this being without the economic failure or martial law or national or international emergencies. When your provisions run out and you have no means of travel or flight then you are stranded and there will be no fight, just the old Apache Tactic of waiting. There is a "Box Canyon" which has been built around you, invisible and electronically. A Box Canyon is simply put a Trap which will ensnare you and your family with no way out except into the "arms of the government and Fema"

Gunfight Rules

In a gunfight, the most important rule is ..... HAVE A GUN!!!



These are shooting tips from various Concealed Carry Instructors. If you own a gun, you will appreciate these rules... If not, you should get one, learn how to use it and learn the rules.



RULES

A : Guns have only two enemies: rust and politicians.



B : Its always better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.



C : Cops carry guns to protect themselves, not you.



D : Never let someone or something that threatens you get inside arm's length.



E : Never say "I've got a gun." If you need to use deadly force, the first sound they should hear is the safety clicking off or the hammer cocking.



F : The average response time of a 911 call is 23 minutes; the response time of a .357 is 1400 feet per second.



G : The most important rule in a gunfight is: Always Win - there is no such thing as a fair fight. Always Win - cheat if necessary. Always Win - 2nd place doesn't count



H : Make your attacker advance through a wall of bullets .... You may get killed with your own gun, but he'll have to beat you to death with it because it will be empty .



I : If you're in a gun fight: (a) If you're not shooting, you should be loading. (b) If you're not loading, you should be moving. (c) If you're not moving, you're dead.



J : In a life and death situation, do something .... it may be wrong, but do something !



K : If you carry a gun, people will call you paranoid. Nonsense! If you have a gun, what do you have to be paranoid about?



L : You can say "stop" or any other word, but a large bore muzzle pointed at someone's head is pretty much a universal language; and, you won't have to press 1 for Spanish/Mexican or 2 for Chinese or 3 for Arabic.



M : Never leave an enemy behind. If you have to shoot, shoot to kill. In court, yours will be the only testimony.



N : You cannot save the planet, but you may be able to save yourself and your family.



If you believe in the 2nd Amendment, forward to others you know who also believe.

Glen ... I thank you for your truly awesome and TRUTHFUL Post. Absolutely when the SHTF ... have a gun or two or three. My advice would be a 9mm Pistol, an Assault rifle and of course a serious Shotgun with a lot of shells readily available. One might also have a Bible, a Confederate Flag and a copy of the Bill of rights, the constitution and the Declaration of Independence. Some matches might be a good idea with a change of underwear and some good Boots.
I do not think that an I-Phone would do much good, a sharp knife that you can thrust and slash with might be better. A Bottle of good Whiskey always helps as well as a soft, warm Woman who Loves you. Although the last item is much, much more difficult to find than any of the rest.
If you want some ambient sounds then depending upon the weaponry it could be a Harmonica which is far better and manuverable than an accordion ... or a loud Boom Box with some Stones, Wagner, Rammstein and Iggy Pop perhaps ... unless you might be into that "Jazz" or Country Western but I do not think either is good "Battle Music". But I am interested to hear what Planet Guy and Jeff may say about it.
Come on Guys ... weigh in on what you feel would be excellent "Battle Music". I do not personally think Rap or Hip Hop would be good as it would make one move funny and therefore shoot "funny". But I could be wrong. Perhaps we could list what one might put together as a sort of "Battle Compilation" showing great diversity depending upon who you might be fighting ... UN, Militarised Police, TSA, Homeland Security or Brigade or Ferals. I refrain from including Looters as many of those wear nondescript suits and masquerade as people who really care about the Country.

I did a couple apps where we could pick up Radio 5 in JoBerg - it was so cool to be part of an motorized combat time - rock in your left ear, army bullshit in the right. Really brought out the inner Siegfried.

Your firearms recommendations are surely on target - if you'll forgive that. I happened to fire an MP 5 Submachinegun at a local range that rents such things. Whew...Not for everybody but I sure like it.

I've got whiskey in my survival gear - don't want to be camping out some where without a drop to drink.
