Fave guitars: I love the sound of my Taylor acoustic, but - as I discovered Saturday afternoon, sitting on the couch noodling on my old Fender acoustic - the intonation isn't great on it, but its passable, and so easy to play with narrower/thinner neck and extra light strings. When I play my Taylor (with mediums) I have to WORK it.
My 72 Tele is my go-to electric, plays like a wet dream!

Have any of you guys played or like the Stratacoustic? I played a jam one time and another player had a Stratacoustic plugged in to a small Line 6 amp and that rig sounded pretty good.

do i have fave gtrs? sure....ALL OF 'EM! i tend to develop emotional attatchments to my instruments. i don't have any on the team that aren't really fine players and don't have much to offer.

i don't consider myself a materialistic guy ( and i don't believe the above makes me so).....i don't have these emotional attatchments to any other material things, but the "right" instruments..inanimate objects that they be...well, they do have "soul" and "personality". and certainly they "speak".

Brenden

I was in a music store recently full of new Fender electrics (didn't see the stratAcoustic Mr. Haley)

These new models all have the "tummy tuck" once the providence only of strats. Some new Gibsons as well.

Two of us 'middle aged' players were chatting the manager, who goes back a ways himself. "So what's with this scoop on the backs of these new Teles?"

He just looked at us. Dropping his eyes to our waistlines. Oh...

Jeff - I've only played one stratacoustic, blue on in a music store. Unplugged it sounds kinda lame, but plays nice. Neck is close to a Strat electric. Don't know what it sounds like plugged in, never heard one or had a chance to plug in myself.

Let's see...my favorite guitar...I go back and forth but most of the time it's probably my trusty old Squier Strat. Got it used in about 97, traded a crappy Epiphone strat copy for it. I got the better end of that deal...it's usually the one I pick up for practice at home, and the one that gets the most use onstage. I guess the Peavey Patriot would have to be a close second. Strat body with Peavey Super Ferrite single coils in telecaster setup, one extra fret (22 I think, haven't counted) middle pickup setting for both pickups it sounds fantastic, chimes like bells. Fastest neck of any guitar I have, plays like it was made for me, only guitar I ever bought that only took 30 seconds to decide...

As far as acoustics go, it's hard to beat the Takamine I got a few years ago, anyone looking into an acoustic should definitely check out cedar top guitars. I didn't know it when I got mine, it has a cedar top, one of the best sounding acoustics I've ever played. Lots of sustain, neck pretty close to a lot of electrics I've played.

The Stratacoustc is really made to plug in and play. The one I heard was plugged into a cheap Line 6 little practice amp maybe 150 bucks and sounded great!

i jammed w someone a while back who had one. it sounded well....OK....plugged into the PA. sure played nice though.

i think they show up on c-list on ebay fairly cheap $2oo-300 now and then.

not a cheap gtr by any means, but the guy who fronts The 121's (truck stop band) has one of those Chet Atkins solid body Gibson gtrs. he plays it thru a Genz Benz combo w an extra GB extension spkr......wow, whatta totally straight up great acoustic gtr tone! but man, that gtr weighs a ton.

I can't see anything in the photo holding it up except the armchair.
Very daring sir.

wait...are you saying EVERYONE doesn't store their gtrs on their headstocks when not being played????

fear not, 'twas for 30 seconds while i snapped off the pic and it was within arm's reach.

'sides, the way that bass is built ...w it's AAAAA maple body and 5 pc thru body maple/bubinga/maple/bubinga/maple neck...i'd be more concerned for the floor getting messed up than the bass! that bass is built like a tank.

I didn't know the necks were all the way through. Marco from Nightwish plays a Warwick and it always struck me a real playable bass with some punch.

Are those active pickups or just real snappy?
