I have been trying to write some professional sounding music but I was never one for knowing much about the sound equipment I just got paid to plug in and play lead mostly but we play both rhythm and lead at same time its just what we do.

if the music is good the music is good

it wont be your equipment that makes or brakes you.
you need to play with your recoding programs like you do your instruments. nobody uses the same settings to record.

I have no idea what you mean by that statement. I thought quite a few guitar players played like that, at least solo acts. Do you mean that you are playing full chords while picking a melody line? The old country style of picking such a "Wild Wood Flower" sort of thing? Or more like Jazz chord / melody style? Or more like the walking bass while playing the lead line or double alternate bass lines while picking the melody on multiple strings? Is "we" third person speak or are you two musicians?

Just curious as I am a finger picker and am familiar with quite a few styles of playing lead with self accompaniment. I'm not attempting to be offensive, I'm just trying to understand exactly what you mean and why that is important to your project.

what is troubling you about the DP-24 Tascam? I posted the first recording I ever made with a Toneport UX-2 interface, Ableton Live Lite 5.2.2 Line 6 Edition recording software, and Gear Box, and below par recording, but I learned things that will help me improve in the future, there are pops from lack of CPU resources, a few bad notes, from concentrating on how it was working, rather than concentrating on the playing, but as I do it more, my concentration will focus more on playing, then wondering if I am recording it right?.. I would love to sit in with an experienced sound recorder guy and get free lessons, but it ain't gonna happen.. I also could not master 3 separate tracks into 2 channels either because I have an archaic version of Ableton and the features are absent when I saw what was available on Live Lite 9.0.. stuff I fot is nearly 9 years old, a lifetime in technology terms.. please get back, with your specific problems with the DP-24..thanks for sharing..

I think the OP was a 'drive by'.

Dayne - 'pops' in your recording are usually do to buffer settings in your driver/DAW software. Low buffer seting means less latency, but more chance for crackles and pops.
