Is that from the Tom Dowd doc? I caught that about a quarter of the way through. I was captivated. That he went from working with Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin to Cream, Derek & The Dominoes, Alman Brother's and Skynyrd was mind blowing. Such a great narrative running through the whole thing, too. I need to see more stuff like that, funk brothers, etc.

Love it when he's riding the faders at the end of the song. Wonder if they had a scratch guitar or organ part that led into the ending, since the piano part was recorded after?

I think he was saying that the entire ending section was recorded later? It does seem to have a different atmosphere about it.
Have you seen the documentary for Muscle Shoals that came out recently? It's on Netflix...and amazing.
Recently found out that someone I'm working with was a singer with the Wrecking Crew and ran across this one on "Layla" while looking for the documentary made about them. Apparently it has been screening at film festivals since 2008 but doesn't seem to have actually been distributed nationally in theaters or on video?

I'd love to see that Wrecking Crew movie. I read the book, and it was OK, but the film looks better.

I don't think it was ALL done after, as it still had all of Duane's slide work on the same faders (and same tone). I think he said it was just the piano recorded weeks after.
