Listened/watched to a bunch of your stuff last night, Dave. What happened to the band? It sounded like you had a good thing going there but maybe too much touring?
Can't imagine what that must belike in your area of Canada, I haven't visited it, but htink the plan touched down there on way form Ottawa to calgary a few years ago.
The harder-rocking tunes aside (like the Sandy one), I'd classify your tunes as more Americana-sounding (is there a Canadana genre?!) or country-ish when the banjo and fiddle are in play. Is this style popular in mid-Canada? Only thing I really know about music in that part of the country is the Guess Who, and I know that's the next province over (Saskatchewan).

I really like the mallet instruments, all the 'o'phones. You have a nice bit of a jazz feel with these songs. very pro sounding.

I was mentioning earlier in a reply to Mr Jahva how most of the stuff you might hear from this BandMix site, were I'm posting, is made with that Garage band thingie.

I like to play all kinds of instruments, and enjoy the process of recording and mixing stuff. I find by playing different instruments, I can get a better feel for the needs of the performers, whom I may be doing sound for, or playing with.

well, MERE MORTALS auditioned our second candidate last night. first guy who came out last week wasn't too shabby and remains a contender. last night's bassman...not so much so. yikes.

this guy couldn't swing if he was hanging from a rope!

and it was one of those typical deals where the band knew within the first 30 seconds he didn't have the stuff. but nice guys (chumps) that we are we had to go thru the motions and give him time to see for himself it wasn't a good fit.

did he? hell nooooo! i just left it that we're still looking at other players. we actually have three waiting to audition. crikey. i'm almost tempted to leave my dobro and mandos in their cases and be the full time bassplayer.

so exactly how far a commute would it be for you????

We were just about to embark upon a tour of Europe, when due to interpersonal life issues, we had to throw away many years of booking, and work.

A big life lesson, and a lot of bridges that may never be crossed again. Just know, that if you are a musician, being forced to be the one handling all the paper work, and bookings, it can nearly kill your will to live.

Management of the "details" needed to tour, should be handled by an other entity, other that your principle songwriter and all-round good guy.



I feel need to clear up what you are perceiving as "My Band's" work and music, and my own personal multi track experiments I post as short films.

I use a lot of footage I shot from our touring days with the band, The Hurricane Sandy film, was just me sitting around the house, with a busted up guitar I found in a snow-bank, which at the time, only 4 strings, and was tuned so low, that a light wind would bend the strings. I used a Zoom Hn4 handheld recording device to do the basic recording, then one day I just did whatever my left foot told me to do, and that's how things go. You have a mini music-mentery, of our trip to New York.

I only have 2 songs on this site, that were from one of our Albums. (the Magnificent Sevens) made 2 CDs and one 7 1/2 inch vinyl 5 song record, in our time together. All other music/s you may find here posted into the BandMix site are my experiments with whatever I felt like fooling with on the day of those dirty deeds.

Since I'm not trying to get any bookings for the Magnificent Sevens, but, I am trying to garner some interest in the things I do, as an independent multi instrumental song-writing musician, I have chosen to post some of my own musical adventures. I have been a sound guy for many years and recorded many CDs, and other things for other musicians. I love the engineering side of the music experience, and have found the use of multi tracking expands my understanding of how instruments work together as an ensemble.

If you'd like to scope out some real band recordings, just go to my Youtube page, and you'll find the full list of uploads I've placed into a playlist called (the Magnificent Sevens Present). I tend to put all uploads into there, as a body of work. Someday I'll re-upload a lot of stuff with a better quality of video so they will suck a little less than they do. Many of the short films only have a 240p quality. The minimum I'd like to see is in the range of 360p to 480p. My camera and computer tech is so basic and outdated thins take forever to render and upload.

On iTunes The Albums "Dirty Roads" and Al Kinds of Mean" are for sale. I've never seen a penny for that overly litigious expensive effort, but that is the way of the music industry these days.

Only by meeting people, and touring, will any of that part of the show, show a profit. So its good that I love doing this music thing, at least I get that out of it.

Hi again, Mr Planetguy.

The last time I "snuck in" the DHO was not even a twinkle in Dick Cheney's eye.

It is much harder these days to cross borders, as was my personal experience, I may be told I'm stealing work form American banjo players without the proper paperwork.

A lot of paper work and some questionable fees need to be paid into the extortion racket that is the DHO, and their fake fear campaigns.

I need to do things above board, despite my joking about the underground railway.
