Purse snatchers aren't in it for gun fights. They're operating from a position of presumed advantage.

The thing about carrying 'concealed' weapons (and not just guns) and being willing to use them, is that soon enough the wolves don't know who the sheep are or who the other wolves that look like sheep are - so they move on to different, presumably weaker, animals.

If you get poisoned half the time you eat those 'easy to get' mushrooms, then you quickly move on to other foods, and you tell the rest of your clan to stay away from those mushrooms.

So concealed weapons have merit.

If you don't trust the judgement of the average human, that's fine - I don't blame ya for that.

"Guns" are going to continue to be a problem until either everyone has them, carries them, and 'knows' them, or until no one has them.

the problem w that line of thought is that you are giving the wolves credit for being able to make smart and rational choices. more likely these cretins are operating using "criminal mentality".....

as I see it, that's much the same as that oft used argument for the death penalty being a "deterrant" to using a gun in a stick-up that might go wrong... or as a deterrant to homicides.

I'd wager that in most cases these criminal masterminds don't have the smarts to think it out two or three steps ahead.

driving home from a gig yesterday on two lane Hwy 19 the idiot in from me starts drifting into the other lane into the path of an upcoming semi while we're trucking along at 70 mph. I'm on my horn, the trucker is on his and this fool takes forever to figure it out to correct and get his dumbass back on our side of the road. it was VERY close.

of course he was talking on the phone.... and almost caused a major wreck.

now, if this doofus can't be trusted to use good judgement and safely operate a motor vehicle w his irresponsible behavior that puts other's lives in jeopardy....why in the world would I trust him to use good judgement to safely use a gun????

That's anecdotal isn't Planet?

Reminds me of a guy who asked me for some bizarre reason if I hated Mexicans. I replayed, "What are their names?"

The world is full of assholes. Our education standards are laughable, our spiritual values are mocked openly.

The same Govt that encouraged all that is now using that as an excuse to ban guns. "Folks are too stupid to have guns!"

i would however, disarm the police. And I'm not kidding. End the drug war and those jokers need their machine guns anymore and dogs will bark in relief!

I get the distrust of people.
Browsing a couple social networking sites every day clearly shows that we are doomed.
They aren't fit to drive and use a phone.
They aren't fit to drive.
They aren't fit to have kids or raise kids.
Etc...

But you can't mandate everything away.

Petty criminals do think twice if there's potential danger involved.
Crazies, not so much
