If active soldiers aren't qualified enough and sensible enough to handle weapons on a military installation, then I don't know who is.
It is flat out stupidity to have no accessible arms on a military base.

USS COLES... Following the protocol that was handed down from the officer in charge... The two men on watch were allowed two bullets, between the two of them, to protect an American warship. This has been totally downplayed and ignored.

The outcome was a bunch of crazies took out that ship and killed American soldiers. THEY DID IT WITH A RUBBER RAFT.

The point is that we keep putting our young people in harms way... And taking away their ability to defend themselves. Where is the sanity in that?

The scary thing about this... Crazies know this is defenseless area, the same as schools and movie theaters and even commuter trains.

Maybe we should just go after anyone that is suspected of being crazy... Silly me. I am reminded that that would go against the ideals set forth by our founding fathers. We are a republic not a democracy. Study this carefully... It is intended to protect the minority as well as majority. Very strange conundrum because it leaves an open invitation to interpretation.

But... If some entity is "shooting" at you... The intent is very clear.

And yet at the same time, all Federal Agencies are arming themselves to the teeth and taking on police powers. We already live in a police state. It's a matter of time before it turns on us.

Here's a scary read for ya...why does the National Weather service need a police force that doesn't need a warrant to bust into your house and terrorize you?

last weekend there was a gal on the dance floor making eyes at me playing on stage while she danced w her back to her husband. big dude.

didn't take long for him to catch on, and as soon as he did, he was giving me serious glare and the ol' stink eye.

he seemed like a cool enough guy...but i've no doubt he might have been thinking me quite "evil" at the time.

and i tell ya what....despite the old saying "looks can kill".....we all know they CAN'T.

now, if he was packing a sidearm.... and his woman decided to take things a little further and be even more obvious than she was already being....well, that's one of many situations where i'm grateful most folks AIN'T packing. sure glad HE wasn't.

sorry, i just don't have the same faith in my fellow man (and women) that they will always use the best judgement about when to draw down. nope. too many crazies. too many people exercising poor judgement. too many w poor impulse control.

i've seen too many bar fights in crowded places (one last weekend next night in fact) where guns would have come out if these bozos had 'em. wouldn't THAT have been fun!!!!

yeah, and then there would have to be someone w GOOD judgement deciding who the good guys are...who the bad guys are....if there's a threat to the innocent and wimmin folk, etc. and all this decidedin a few split seconds w alot of folks around?

nah...like i said...i don't have enough faith in most people to make those life and death split second decisions.

of course i have no way of knowing if he was armed or not. and i never assumed he WOULD use a gun if he was. i was merely making a point.....that i'd rather NOT take my chances on someone ALWAYS using good sound judgement about when THEY think it's appropriate to draw down on someone.

yeah, i believe an overwhelming majority do and will use good and sound judgement. but do i expect EVERYONE to do so???? hell no.

me personally.....i'd rather deal w an UNARMED idiot. any day. seems like simple math and the law of statistics. if everyone is packing.... you have more of a chance of dealing w an ARMED screwball.

but, as to gov't being blamed for holocausts......the argument can easily be made that PEOPLE using bad judgement (Hitler, his henchmen, and PLENTY of "average citizens") all had some hand in the holocaust.

OK, fair enough. Sorry I assumed you were against civilians having the right to defend themselves with guns if necessary.

I don't own a gun, but I defend the rights of anyone who wants one. That way (government) crooks don't know if I'm packing or not.
