I like the Big Stubby (guitar pick), but they're made of the wrong material... too brittle, and they get divots too easily.

Yeah that sucks when you do a heavy string drag and then the sucker comes up with grooves in it.

(trash-bound after that)

I can never find a pick. What I always have is a multi tool with scissors and a dead gift card/hotel key card/expired credit card. So I always just cut one out.

Guitar Center (no comments, Scottie!) has a 3-day sale going thorugh SUnday for a bunch of stuff underr $29. Fender picks (light, medicum or heavy) for $3.95 a dozen for any of the colors excpet the old red torotise shell color. I had a $10 coupon so ordered a couple dozen in abalone and turquoise. 8)

I've tried those dimple picks. I got one I use on bass, but it feels weird to me. (The dimple messes with my mind) lol

what about holes? i'm big fan of holes in a pick. i'll often drill holes in picks that don't come that way.

the other mod i always do (if it ain't already there) is to file a bevel into the right side of both sides of the pick. (you can the bevel pretty clearly on the green pick below.)

The Red stubbys I've been using get marked up easily (to me).
Now, if they were more like the dunlop jazz pick material that would be pretty spot on for me.
These red ones feel more like a jolly rancher than good petroleum.

Basically I need something short (or stubby), that doesn't have an ultra pointy tip, and isn't made of hard candy. 8)

I can see how that would reduce slipperyness. More air flow, less sweat or oil.
I might try that if I pick up some uber firm picks.

Switched to nylon .88mm
They have a nice 'shark skin' texture at the top to keep them from spinning around in my hand.
My guitar amp combination is very sensitive to attack so I oft need to employ a very loose grip for a smother chording or note.

The .88 is a nice compromise for me between heavy rhythms and single note solo stuff.

Wow the holes thing just blew my mind.

That never occurred to me.

Then again, I have broken picks in half while playing.

And that is the worst feeling of all.

I'd rather drop it than snap it..
