I would have to agree with just about everything said on this post. Truth is, everyone has an opinion, and if they did come up with a definitive Master, I'm sure I would have to disagree. One thing that I have found is that once something is done to set the bar, then it sheds light to those that now know what they have to do to beat it. My hat is off to the pioneers and those that take that road as a challenge that lead us to a new end.

One more attemt to get everyone on one page... A name I haven' found on Anyones list that A) was and is the most influencial B) Probably in every guitar players arsenal (in archives),that opened the door of possibility "I Can Do This" attitude, and C) Probably has influenced more music artists than anyone in music history...Give up? Mel Bay. Look in YOUR books, see if you don't have his name in your stash. Any other name is subjective to the listeners preference. No other name could be as widespread to all of us. 8)

I know it's cliche, as it's been debated to death......but the Mount Rushmore of Guitarists would include....

Jimi
Jimmy
Eddie
Eric
Stevie

You can't go wrong with however you rank those 5, but that's the 5 at the top of the heap. I have lots of "favorite" players, but as far as "total package" guys, all lists start with these guys.

You can't have a list w/o Beck.
Just ask Page or Clapton. They've been in awe of him for decades.
