Valid points as usuall Craig, But I live here in Texas and the problem just keeps getting worse, this is not new sicne 9/11 only the attention of the rest of the country is new. ER fludded with non paying illegals. My wife was almost killed in an auto accedent and the cops just let the wet back walk off. no license no insurance no ID. If your gonna be in this country to make a living you should have to be responsable for your actions just like me. If I had been driving that unlicensed unregestered truck that hit my wife I'd still be in prison. If your kids are gonna be in the public school with mine you should be payin taxes just like I do. and 20 illegals living in a $300 rent house aint payin taxes. I'm all for legal imigration and temporary work visas. But dont steal from me and then tell me your mistreated thats BS. I have worked side by side with illegal ailens in the ditches of the Texas oil fields since I was 15 and many are good men. But we must be a country of laws that apply to everyone or we will not survive as a free state. If you are here against our laws when you had your child , that child is not a citizen in my book. Thats like sayin if I put on a pair of jeans in wal mart they belong to me. My family immigrated here at great danger and personal sacrifice but they did it legally because they appreciated what the rule of law in America could do for them.
First we must close the door, then we can figure out whos naughty and whos nice. And if you think the wheat price is bad wait till these fools start using all the corn for fuel.

Agreed.

I believe that there is a new philosophy on this issue, and rather than sending illegals back (yes, illegals, NOT "undocumented") they will be put in jails and prisons for entering illegally. Whatever plan gets implemented, unless it is a far-left liberal, it will likely include this provision, as a deterrent for future illegal immigration. Too bad this policy was not in place when your wife's accident occurred, but this is the kind of policy you are likely to see in new laws on illegal immigration.

This penalty is reasonable, because 1) It "IS" illegal to enter the country outside of our laws for doing so legally, and 2) New plans would likely include a more open policy for a legal way for workers to come into the country with tamper-proof worker ID's so they can come in and work for a set amount of time, requiring a return to the country of origin, and re-applying for a work permit to repeat the process.

I don't want to sound picky Craig but I dont want to pay for their free health care and education while they are in American jails either.
But I guess our criminal injustice system would start a whole new thread/ argument. Prisons are for punishment. Murderers should be in cemetaries not prisons. too much "Oh the poor mistreated criminal its all society or his mama fault" Were right back to our Goverment and society as a whole not holding individuals responsable for their actions. Did you know that Bush borrowed the money we are supposed to get back as a "tax refund" as a high interest loan from the F'in Chinese Communists.
He's gonna borrow more to bail out stupid people who took too big a loan on there house. How in the hell is that right. I,m pissed and confused.
We may have to just kill en all and start over.

f**k it, I say let them all in. Take everyone, this country is made up of all the worlds' peoples anyway.

I say take them all in.

If you are being killed in your country, come on in. I know my life will go directly to hell, but hey at least they won't be killing others while we stand around doing nothing.

Besides, life is short. Be human and welcome those that are worse off than we are. At some point, we'll all be better off because we took in the world's unwanted peoples anyway.

(The military likes people trying to be American, they give them m-16's and new fatigue uniforms along with a 8 year hitch.)

Don't forget that Der Chimpenfuhrer (George W Bush) told illegal immigrants that if they died in any of this country's stupid wars abroad, they would be buried as US citizens. Wooohoooo! Is that a deal or WHAT!

Well, it has to be one or the other. There are only two ways of dealing with them, and maintaining soverignty. Send them back or put them in jail. Jail is more of a deterrent than sending them back.

btw...

Did you hear? That woman that ran into a schoolbus and killed 4 kids is an illegal alien. She was busted once for driving without a license a few years back, and just paid a fine for it. She got a state issued ID and under an alias got a driver's license. Now she's killed 4 kids, and it is possible she will just be sent back to Mexico, regardless of the outcome of a criminal trial.

IMMIGRANTS, LEGAL AND ILLEGAL, FAR LESS LIKELY TO COMMIT CRIME THAN NATIVE BORN AMERICANS

Because many immigrants to the United States, especially Mexicans and Central Americans, are young men who arrive with very low levels of formal education, popular stereotypes tend to associate them with higher rates of crime and incarceration. The fact that many of these immigrants enter the country through unauthorized channels or overstay their visas often is framed as an assault against the “rule of law,” thereby reinforcing the impression that immigration and criminality are linked. This association has flourished in a post-9/11 climate of fear and ignorance where terrorism and undocumented immigration often are mentioned in the same breath.

However, data from the census and other sources show that for every ethnic group without exception, incarceration rates among young men are lowest for immigrants, even those who are the least educated. This holds true especially for the Mexicans, Salvadorans, and Guatemalans who make up the bulk of the undocumented population. The problem of crime in the United States is not “caused” or even aggravated by immigrants, regardless of their legal status. But the misperception that the opposite is true persists among policymakers, the media, and the general public, thereby undermining the development of reasoned public responses to both crime and immigration.

here is a good one for all of you...i am a fully legal alien because i went through all the proper channels and did all the things(full medical, aids test, backround criminal check etc) required to get a visa to enter the states and marry my wife who is american...its a very complicated process and they make it as difficult as possible to fend off people doing it just to get a green card....believe me if you didnt love the person involved you would never deal with the mountain of paper work interviews and the massive cost involved.....
but my point is this...on the form it states that "if you have had any experience in the military or would be willing to serve in the armed forces you would have a much faster and better chance of getting a visa"......and i was told "that the amount of spaces for visas is limited and perference will be given in certain cirumstances???????
also if you do join the armed forces your family if you have one(wife ,kids) can enter the country on your visa and live in the states.
if you dont join only you can enter on the visa.

in other words if you have a family.. no work skills or letters after your name it would be in your best interests to join the armed forces if you "REALLY" want to get into the country...

talk about an offer you cant refuse......

Sickening isn't it. Another great gift of the Bush Reich. If you agree to go fight and die in their stupid wars, they will reward you with a tombstone that says "citizen".

What bullshit.

I.A,

"Me and a hundred more
to America sailed or
Our fortunes to be makin' we were thinkin'

But when we landed in yankeeland
placed a rifle in me hand
sayin' 'Paddy must go and fight for Lincoln' ".

This is the third verse from one of my favorite old Irish American folk songs,"Bye the Hush" (it was covered by Sinead O Conner and Linda Thomson, among many others) Sad to think that little has changed in the last 150 years!
Sad story, but thanks for the tellin'. :(

Hey, I have had illegal friends by the busloads, and I can affirm that most illegal immigrants work and support the economy as consumers and get in trouble mostly for mild things, like public intoxication or something like that. Most are not hardcore criminals.

The problem is, that none of that matters to a family whose loved one has been killed by an illegal immigrant. The fact is, that if that person had not been here, the crime would not have occurred. Sure, someone else could kill them one day, but that didn't happen. They were killed by someone who wasn't supposed to be here. No one who suffers a loss at their hands will get over that fact easily.
