Hi! I am new to the scene and decided to put some of my work up for everyone to listen. I don't have professional equipment, and have been using Audacity for some time now. Anyone in Champaign, Illinois that could help me out with some recordings that would be great! Until than there a few tunes on here, and please check out my reverbnation page and facebook page and share some love!

Sounds to me that you have the workings for some nice Folk / Americana tunes.
Not fond of the speak-sing methodology.
And admittedly not my favorite genre'.
Yet with some work on our mix, you may have some very workable tunes on your hands.
Not a knock, but I feel it would benefit you to work with a vocalist of some talent.
Might invest in a harp player too.

All in all enjoyable.
And I appreciate your posting music.
Welcome to Bandmix.

I agree 100 percent. I've only been trying to sing for the past couple years, taking bits of advice on opening my airways. I've been told a few times I sound like I'm forcing my vocals out to much, or that I'm singing through my nose instead of my mouth.

Same with the harp playing, I've been trying to keep my notes steady. I have the tendency to overdraw A LOT. Articulating the notes to I feel is a definite weak spot. I want to meet a harp player to fine tune my skills.

I'm hoping to find some players here in the Champaign area that would like to lend a hand to better my playing. Being self taught is a rough road to ride on haha.

Thank you for taking the time and providing feedback! Exactly what I need!

I like what you're doing... nothing ground-breaking just a guy and his acoustic. A great place to start imo.

I don't mind your vocal style... but yeah if you work on it you should be able to get better. Would be interesting to hear a second voice doing some harmonies along side your tracks. Keep working at it and writing.
Good luck to you!

Thank you! Great insight from other perspectives, definitely the most (and best) feedback I've received starting out. Definitely taking in everything you guys have said, and excited to keep going!

Advice:
Put your contact info in your profile - most people browsing hte profiles here are not premium members, so cannot send you a message. You have to 'hide' your email address like "ME at YAHOO dot COM" so it doesn't get deleted by the mods.
Get out to local open mics, jams, etc, and network with others.

Nice . . .
Humble attitude and a will to learn and grow.
I expect much is in this guy's future.
