Great bass playing, but would be difficult for me to believe that bassline would give Planetguy too much of a problem.

What exotic looking creature is that red bass?

thanks for the vote of confidence!

and after hearing your bass playing...i doubt you'd have any trouble either.

that's a 1965 Epiphone Newport. i believe '65 was the year that EPI went to the "batwing" headstock. previously it'd been a 2+2 headstock.

i had been scoping that bass out for awhile at a pawn shop back in Jamaica Queens NY. it'd been there for awhile and they couldn't sell it. after lusting for it for around 6 months or so....amazingly enough i won an Electra LP copy (i think that's what it was...been awhile) after entering a Sam Ash Giveaway!

i knew the folks at the pawn shop would be happy to do a straight up trade for something they'd actually be able move and we were all happy w the trade.

it was a fun bass...short scale but like many shorties it had some intonation issues and you couldn't improve it w the non adjustable stock bridge. i changed it out for a Leo Quan Bad Ass bridge...that helped some. and i changed the orig Gibson EBO style humbucker out for a Dimarzio.

that original EPI p/u had a huge output....cleaning out my parts drawer i recently sold it for $200

i ended up selling that bass, and like many past loves....i do wish she was still around. or that we at least kept in touch. 8)

I've never been able to get the same feeling, like others, saying The Doobie Bros. sold out when McDonald come on board because of Tom Johnston's illness.. I liked the 'new" Doobie Bros. it was a different style with Skunk there too..

No way I could keep up with Tiran Porter or Planetguy on a bass! Not even close!! But thank you for the nice thought!

I just knew that bass must of had a great story behind it!
