Have you ever noticed that some people go online to simply rag on people they know absolutely nothing about? Does it make them feel better? Does it make them feel superior? Does it elevate their pittly little lives a notch or two?
If I don't KNOW somebody I tend not to rag on them personally. I may give somebody a lousy critique on their tunes they want us to critique, if that's my opinion, but that doesn't mean I have the authority to rag on them personally. It's NOT my style.
There's a bunch of harsh critique on the Kansas City Craigslist about a saxophone player who advertises all the time. THEY DON'T KNOW JACK ABOUT HIM. I gigged with the guy a few times and he's awesome. People on the internet sometimes show their utter ignorance by spouting diarrhea from the mouth. I posted on Craigslist in his defense and I'll bet he'll see it and know it was from me.
And if one of the idiots who posted the crap on him sends me a message and asks who I am I'll them it's none of their f#c#i#g damn business...

I see the same thing on my local CL. Most likely 'wannabes' who have bene rejected so many times, they feel the need to try to cut others down to size.

I have always been considerate of you fisherman bob, and I know what you mean about the bashing that takes place on craigslist.. I know it is bad manners, but sometimes I go there to entertain myself reading the posts insulting each other.. kinda like why people go to see NASCAR races, for the carwrecks..otherwise it is boring watching cars go around in a circle?.. unless noise is your thing

I wouldn't care but in this case I know the person being dissed. I don't care reading crap dribbling out of the mouths of fools.

The internet generation has become a rude, noisy and self obsessed passel of opinionated, metrosexual dumbkopfen. At, Least in my opinion. 8)

I watch a lot of YouTube videos and the comments people make, "He sucks," "this person is an asshole" etc ad. Makes me want to scream.

I'm no Justin Bieber fan but I don't talk about his work because I haven't heard it - just generally don't like pop. But man, people do say awful things about that kid. Seems kind of mean but then the whole 'celebrity' scene is a mean one.

They are all art critics too, "This NOT real metal." If someone plays blues on an odd shaped ESP or the other extreme, and uses a Telecaster to play metal - whew the fools go berserk.

I don't get it. We should always give folks the benefit of the doubt. Artists need to have a strong ego - like baseball players eh?

It makes me feel we have become a nation of sissies. As FBob noted - lots of tough guys hiding in the electronic forests talking sh*t. It used to be your only options were face to face - people were I think, a bit more circumspect with their remarks.

Depends on who is talking to whom. Some of us are just as blunt in person as online.

(Just like clubbing a baby seal. CRUNCH "Who needs a new coat"?)

It's good to be consistent, whatever you are...
Be yourself..just try not to hurt people.. They bruise like over ripe fruit.

To be someone you aren't is a game of "let's pretend" and eventually people see right through the visage.

I've also found that sometimes, "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything" but that's kind of like lying by omission and even harder if someone asks your opinion directly..

Baseball players aren't any stronger than anyone else, unless you are talking about people that can really play and know it.

Then again, you'll have the same thing with musicians "that can really play and know it". They aren't going to take much crap about their game, either..

(stick to the facts, ma'am) lol

Justin Bieber is a plebe because he was brought up and in by USHER.
Without him, Beiber has no career and probably no material.
(You know he didn't write anything worth doody.)

Actually that depends. Face to face with me they're polite. Behind a computer screen pretty stupid. In a mob they take on the characteristics of the mob (Nazis, KKK, etc.) People react differently in different circumstances.

The bm forum is no different then cl. Take Johnny7 saying I'm going to wind up pumping gas (like that's a bad thing), when I'm retired living in a mansion, at one of the premier addresses in America. Goddam site better then Rancho Cuckoomonga. He just said it to try to hurt me, then go back to his holier then thou, self.
