Anyone else feeling the holiday deluge?

Hey folks, just stopping in to chew the fat from yon local library.

I found out my machine is toast. I registered a big intrusion via my crappy isp. The know what happened, but they aren't paying for anything, nor taking any responsibility for what happened. (SSDD)

I figure that I can log on every now and again from the library and let the cretins destroy the library machines. lol

So I was watching a show on The Battle of Gettysburg and I got the majority of a new tune. It's a real tear jerker.

It's rather fleshed out in comparison to what I have participated on in the past. In short, I am excited. True, it is a departure comparatively to what I am used to, but it's compelling musically speaking. (imo)

I had a chorus that was sitting around and gathering dust, seems like it fits very well within this structure. We'll see !

I wrote it Thanksgiving morning and it basically wrote itself.
It gets a little more complete every day, although the keys part is challenging so I am attempting to enlist Les.

I figure to just work on this piece and ignore anything and everything else, including prior events. BUT I HAVE THE MAJOR PART OF IT COMPLETE AND I FEEL IT MIGHT BE THE BEST TO DATE. (I've been wrong before, we'll see.)

So I am waiting to see what Les will say, but regardless it'll be ready when it's ready and not before. (I played what I have for another friend of mine and all of a sudden, he wants to collaborate. The sad fact is he is about worthless as a musician and worse as a keys player, so I am just content to keep fleshing it out and adding touches to it as time goes on.)

Worse yet, I just got a deluge of people that think they wanna play bass.

lol You know the type, "I played guitar since I was 3 and I'm interested in joining your set". (notice no mention of playing bass) lol

So I am messing around with a few of them, in between finishing this odd, but good tune.(imo) The worst was this Berklee grad, a really good player but geez he was a tool. I couldn't stand him, he kept trying to tell me what key music should be in. (die)

I am a little shot out due to the holidays and the stress involved, but the would be bassists have me on the ropes. I made the mistake of asking for a sample. OOPS, a lot of them lead off with a racial slur of one variety or another and it further convinces me that Craigslist is a wasteland.

But god help you, if they find out that you have a show or something to play coming up here in the future, you can't get rid of them.

(I think it's the usual delusion, as in they think "as soon as they hear me play, I won't have to play bass anymore and they will can their guitarist and hire me to play guitar".) LOL I always chuckle when I run into those types.

A word of advice for people soliciting ads for musicians, keep to what they are asking for. I.E>. If they want a bassist, no one cares about how good a guitarist you think you are and what guitar equipment you have...

They want what they want and those that look like they don't know what they are positioned to do just seem confused and pushy.

That's advice that I am using as well, too bad it took me till now to realize it. The people that place these ads hate that nonsense, because it makes you an unknown quantity and they really want what they want, nothing else.

PS: Bob, you were right...The stalker is back for Thanksgiving. She sent me 5 emails last night. And I am going to buy an air horn to blast her with in 5 minutes. I am tired of attempting to be nice about it.

If she shows up, she's going to jail with 2 punctured ear drums from the air horn blast!!!

Ooh my time is up.. Ooh didn't know there was a 15 minute time limit on these computers.

Until next time, I wish you all good times and safe travels.. (waives)

Hey Scott! Remember - next computer, keep your Firewall ON!

My computer f*cked up this morning - none of my browsers would load the internet (Firefox is my default, but I tried IE and Chrome, too). Eventually had to do a system restore back to last week.

OMG, I played what I have for a piano guy in Quakertown last night.

He liked it, but he's not seeing my vision. :(

He said it sounds like Seal's, A Prayer for the dying..

I was indignant, "how so" I almost screamed>?

He laughed and complimented me on the piece.
He said that he'd like to record it but he wants to change my premise from Gettsyburg to something else.

I waived him off and thanked him but "no thank you".

Oh boy, I bet the dance music was right on my doorstep again.
Glad the door is locked and I'm not answering the call of "dance music".

Nooo, passss.

I think I just got a budding new keys player from CA.
He just moved down here to HOWELL, I think he said.

I heard his soundcloud page and he sounds very talented.

But the proof is always in the pudding, so I won't say anything more except when this is done, I am definitely posting it. It's going to have an effect, I assure you.

And no Les passed on this and that's perfectly ok.
I gather he's plenty busy with his new band, "Ponder".

You can hear their stuff on their bmix page.

Uhh, I spoke too soon.

The little guy let me know in a most odd way that I was too old for him.

He wants a 20 year old something-something.

I laughed at him and asked him if this proposed fellow was going to be able to write anything reasonable and that was it.

NEXT VICTIM.

I got a guy from Summit now that looks promising.
He was looking at my bmix profile, but he thinks all I want him to do is operate the DAW.

So i just wrote him back, explaining that wasn't the case.

We'll see what happens this time.

Happy-happy joy-joy.. lol

Ouch, it gets worse. lol

I played with this guy last night.

He swore to me that he was a good keys player.

In short he was awful, he played with "1 finger", literally.

I tried to show him the piece I wrote on Thanksgiving, he just looked at me in the most forlorn way and told me "uh I can't really play with both hands".

I just looked at him in disgust and said, "yea, that's my line".

Then he asked me to join his thing and I slowly packed up, thanked him for his time and went home.

"What thing?" When it's just one person, you got no "thing".
You are a "solo act" if that.

I'm just glad I didn't bring anyone else to witness the debacle.

NEXT VICTIM. lol Like I originally stated, CL is a wasteland, as in either it's very desolate or everyone you come in contact with is a waste.

God help us all..
