i am a paying customer of this site and i have sent many emails to people but had little responce, now this could be down to rudeness or because only a few actualy pay the subcription fee. i was wondering how other people were getting on.

The people you are sending the messages to have to be paid members to get them and respond......we, if thats the case, I'm canceling my membership when it runs out as pretty much most of the users on the UK site are free users.

I thought you had to be a paid up member to send messages, not to respond.

I am an unpaid member.
I have received numerous messages, and I have been able to respond every time.
This policy is definitely still in effect.
I received / replied to many messages last month, 2 weeks ago, last week, and today.
Try asking for a response, 'one way or the other,' in your initial contact.

I'm still trying to figure out why anyone would join this site, and then not answer emails . . .

But let me tell you about a phenomenon I've come across . . .
I've exchnaged emails with several people. We talk music; we talk instruments, we talk styles, we talk about crowd reactions, we talk about writing . . . I get sick of talking . . .
We get along great. So, ok, they've passed first inspection:
1) The guy is NOT a jerk,
2) He lives close enough
3) Our music is compatible
.
I ask them to come over to play.
Wow, then the EXCUSES start flowing like water . . .
Once you've asked them to play, you'll never hear from them again . . .
.
I've come across many, many, many FANS this way.
They pose as musicians, so they can be 'buddy-buddy' with me.
These people will be all for everything you talk about . . . until you ask them to put it on the line . . .

I was once contacted by someone, I replied to them and it went through fine, I am on the free account.

RhythmMan, I know what you mean about the excuses because I am the person that makes them, lol. The sad part with me is my excuses are true, I do not make them up to get out of situations (Unless something were to really badly bother me, like the person seems like an axe murderer). It is a curse of my family, we are prone to messing things up, thus a medley of excuses... I need to write a song about it... I will call it "10000 Excuses." Lol.

This musician thing is so darn hard, I have been searching for a bass player and I cannot find one that appears right for the job. My friend also was looking to my knowledge, we cannot find anything yet, we will though. Right now though there is no rush because we are just jamming and learning from one another, but when the rush time comes it will be annoying.

As Ive stated on other threads. this site helped me build my band, I sent out lots of E's only a few responses, and fewer still compatable with what and where both in the physical realm and at skill/musical level. Ifn it worked in podunk Texas, It should work in BFE.

well then it must be rude people. one guy did respond and asked for a cd so i sent him one and then nothing, i tried phoning him......NOTHING!!!
cant you just say NO? iv sent mails to about ovwr 10 people now and on;y one person had the manners to fully respond, though he did say no, but at least he said something. my hat off to you patrick333

I fully agree ... i get email from various sites ... but after i reply I get no answer.

Of course I may not be what people are looking for, but a simple "thanks, but no-thanks" email would be polite.

One guy asked for my phone mo twice (said he'd lost it) but never rang me - no email, nothing.

Mostly I think it's just rudeness. An email costs nothing.

have emailed the same contact a few times over the last 6 months catching up etc...but dont have alot of responses to email - a quick no thanks would be enough - in this game taking offence is silly - so come on people just reply out of respect

good point ... a reply just out of politeness would be reasonable I think...

of course not everyone is looking to do the same thing - but a thatnks, but no thanks costs nothing and avoids reudeness.

I've been very fortunate. I've only been here a short time, like 2 weeks, & already I've contacted someone who's too busy to play.

i have now sent a total of 49 emails to people in. 4 have had the deciency to reply.and 1 has now said yes. i shal not be paying any more money to this site when my term runs out

yeah this site is a jip i reckon.ive sent people emails with no reply. everybody proberbly does the same thing,looks for musicians sites, sees that there all paying ones and find this one masquerading as free then when your details are complete,oh by the way you cant actually contact anybody your not a premium member!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!what is the point!

but still you get nothing for free in this life and thats so true.
