....

Ever notice that a ton of people will view you, but not write.

I am looking even now and I see a fellow close by that would attempt to work with. The chap has info, but he doesn't write.

He lists his contact info and all I can surmise is that he wants YOU to contact him.

All I know is that if someone has a sample, you like what they are doing and they have info, why not contact them..especially if they are visiting your damn page often.

It's bugging me to the point that I think I am going to drop my samples.
I don't care who's coming to listen to what, they are samples.
My stuff is not itunes, they are not for sale and if you are local and you have inclination, don't be a little girl about it. TAKE A CHANCE.

Remember Fortune Favors the Bold...are you interested in fortune?
Are you bold? Then why do you hide?

Reminds me of this one guy I know...he's a fantastic player, but he just won't take a chance and play for people. I go over to his house and we play for hours, beautiful stuff that could easily be construed as "artistic" and "Aesthetically valid", but this individual has no confidence at all.

So we jam occasionally and no one will ever hear the magnum opus of his backyard.

Whatever you do, be available to take some risks in order to grab the brass ring at the end of the ride...it's like the lotto, "you gotta be in it, to win it".

This begs the obvious: if you see someone local who's looking at your profile and you'd like to check them out, why not contact them? It's worth $10 to potentially find someone.

Doesn't it all boil down to personal choice? Why should a musician go out and play in public if they do not want to? Isn't it their life and skill to do with as they choose? If a musician wants to play in public I am sure they will do it. Why should they follow someone else's dream?

When I began playing again I had lines at my door trying to get me to play clubs again. Why? That is the very reason that I quit playing for about 25 years. I can understand why some great musicians want to keep it on a personal level. It's simple. They want it that way. :)

This one guy I keep seeing on my profile listening to my samples is there like very other day. He has contact info, like I do. If he hears something he likes, why do I have to solicit him?

The mfer doesn't even have any music. ssdd.

No, see this site is ass backwards.

Show me a sample of what YOU do or gtfo or my way.

You don't need to haunt my page and sit there with your thumbs in your rear end and even if you didn't pay the 10$ a month, you can still get in touch you just have to be resourceful.

I'm guessing that was too much for his wind up brain.

Then again, I am enjoying playing bass for those who actually know how to play. Maybe this is the road I am supposed to travel, who knows and who cares. I definitely don't care any longer.

Getting my paltry 100$ a night is starting to be enough for me and considerably less stress. I made 100$ + 75$ in tips the other night.

I can feel an absence coming if this is what this is going to be.

Unfortunately even in that scenario the send / return is 20:1

I'm with Scott on this. I too get all kinds of people looking at my profile, but very few contact me. I don't know what their problem is. I try and get people to CALL me but all they ever do is text or send emails. TYHAT DOESN'T GET THE JOB DONE DUMBASSES. PICK UP THE DAMN PHONE AND CALL. You can't make music with people unless they ARE THERE IN THE SAEM ROOM, NOT DAYDREAMING IN CYBERSPACE. What happened to the good old days when people personally contacted you and you got together and JAMMED. How on Earth do you know if you have any chemistry unless you're with somebody IN FUC*ING PERSON? The one thing I hate about the internet, texting, emails is that it has taken away the personal connections we once had with people. Scott, that's probably the frustration you're having, am I off base? I like mano a mano, face to face, in your face, not dreaming in some black hole in cyberspace. Get with the program. Not OUT of the program.

Looks suspiciously like the spam I get on Levitynews.com, which is going on a different format January 1. No more Wordpress, a pain in the ass. I'm not moderating useless spam generated jibberish, like the crap you see above, mainly put out by Chinese companies looking to get their website name on millions of other websites for free. Guess what. Ain't happening on my website. Never. You can stick your garbage Chinese companies where the the sun don't shine.

I've been lucky in finding people to play with but several bands that contacted me have been disappointing.

I always emphasize right up front that I'm not a club band guy - yeah I've done it but I'm too old to waste time learning other people's tunes. They agree whole heartedly but when we hook up it's back to 'do you know this or that tune?"

No. And if I did - I wouldn't admit it.

The way I like to do it is learn a whole set or more of originals - then isolate some covers that we all like, and that fit with the overall sound we've created with originals. I think Jimmy Danger does something like that with Farley's - it provides musical cohesion.

But that's just me and I don't claim my way to be the way - just a way.

I hear you Bob. Copy that.

But it's even worse here, I get the same people looking/listening to my sh*t, the old sh*t done with Lester. The newer stuff I won't even post, f**k em all. I about lost my cookies when my buddy played me a tune from a thing we did a while back that I don't even have a copy of. I'm even hearing stuff I did with my old band that isn't supposed to exist. AND THAT REALLY PISSES ME OFF.

Meanwhile I got the drunken slut that taped our WPOT session on the test run. (A hoakey copy but filled with mirth and just fun to listen to.)
She even went ahead and had her friend master it a little, so it's a little better sound quality. I can't get my hands on her. My one buddy said she charged him 5$ for her mastered copy. (I just want a copy of either the video or the audio, so I can post it to You Tube, for god's sake.)
Now I am okay with that, right up until she charged him $ for it.
But every time I go to that little bar now, she's no where to be found. The owner Drew thinks it's funny. And even worse, the other clowns involved are angry because they sounded like sh*t for lack of preparation on the position switch, as I already relayed to you. So chances are, that little scenario is over as fast as it started.

It's like being slowly boiled in oil when these people come to your page, listen to your music but don't want to make even the slightest move at communication. I'm no solo act, never was and never will be.

Worse yet, they may look ok, but only 1 in 10 has any sample what so ever and yet I am supposed to be doing the background work, looking for their materials and coming up empty, but yet it seems like if I want to play anything for anyone, I have to be the one to communicate.

The worst is more than half of them are outright illiterate.

If someone had told me that most musicians are illiterate, I would have told that person that they were over-generalizing and it's not true.

Now after living this thing called bandmix, I think he may be right.

I always thought if you were good enough to play music well and correctly, read music, keep time and meter, you'd have to be literate.

Bullshit, I was wrong and it's scary how wrong I was.

Now I think that maybe the 2 are completely unrelated, which honestly terrifies me. The ignorant and/or stupid are difficult to work with. They just become irate for whatever reason and then it's back to ground zero.

Worse yet, even if I paid, at this point, I think it would all be exactly as it is currently. (head in hands)
